Sorry for the long delay in replying. I've not kept up with Armstrong's latest work, as I've been working on two or three unrelated areas (ethics, philosophy of religion, and various aspects of time). I'll have to take a look though.

Yes, my doubts about Lewis staretd with a question about the demarcation netween worlds, and hardened with worries about the nature of time (his approach is committed to a B-theory of time, which I think is ultimately incoherent).

Of course I disagree with Armstrong on most things, but I think that he's one of the better representatives of that sort of school. David Lewis is my philosophical hero, though (of modern times anyway). (I was an undergraduate when I was 27, by the way.)

Curiously my first ever published paper was in part a defence of Meinong (against William Lycan). As for substance dualis -- there are more of us around than you might think... I take it that you're a graduate student; what's your field?

I don't know the Ryle quotation, but it sounds like him. Fortunately he was wrong, and Meinong is certainly not dead in philosophy. Are you a philosopher? Thanks for dropping by my page, by the way; our tastes (in some areas, at least) seem closer than the taste-o-meter suggests.
