Whereas Bitte Orca is totally different than the other DP albums, which is their trend and it works and I love them for it. Totally different, with the exception of Rise Above which I didn't like at all.. so.. I'm just going to downplay the accomplishments of Rise Above in the trajectory from Glad Fact.. through Getty Address.. to Bitte Orca... and be happy that they're still producing great albums while shifting their formula. I just hope that the next album isn't.. another.. album.. like... BO and RA... and actually goes somewhere else. Same people, different story. Like Animal Collective.. except.. hopefully not moving in the direction of high-gloss electro-fad dance music. I was always rooting for animal collective to start playing with orchestral instrumentation.

I've done Veckatimest and Bittie Orca (a lot) and I think I like BO quite a bit better. Veckatimest is good, sure.. but I think it's a bit weaker than Yellow House, excepting of course the first two tracks which are.. for my money.. astoundingly well done. BO is just track after track of great hooks and melodies and surprising-unsurprising turnarounds and great arrangements and parts and performances. Veckatimest is just the concentration of the Grizzzz Bizzzz core values, and doesn't really introduce enough new ideas for me to overlook how dully 'comfortable' they are doing this stuff. It's great music, but it's just too too causal.. low risk... it's generic, is what I'm getting at.. I guess. It's just... 'another great Grizzly Bear album' and so little more.

I think WFMU was responsible somehow, but apparently I've hit critical mass for artist origin stories and can no longer feel sure! 'The Unicorn' immediately struck me, the tune was catchy, the lyrics profound and beautifully sung.

oh boy, low is one of those bands that sticks with you...the first album of theirs i ever bought was "things we lost in the fire," when i was maybe 14, and it still haunts me when i listen to it now. it's my absolute favorite. if you like that, their oldest albums have the same feel to them. their two newest are both pretty good, but they're like polar opposites: "the great destroyer" is really polished and fleshed-out, while listening to "drums & guns" is like standing in a room with nothing in it but one chair and an empty frame on the wall. somehow they still pull it off, though. if you do end up giving any of their other stuff a shot, let me know what you think!

yea, the site is down, i think he posted a warning thread a week before... hehe anyways i'm good, and i'm done schoolin... finally hehe, now i'm working in a small store/sandwich place a few minutes away from where i live.... don't really have the money or time to travel yet, but it's deffinately on the schedule... i'm thinking about going to japan hehe! Victor's also doing good, we might do a triathlon this summer... well i might he's deffinetly going to, he's been training :). I'm glad to hear yer having fun out there, give us a shout if yer ever gonna play anything in this part of canada :D

I WOULD BE HAPPY TOO! HE IS MY VERY FAVOURITE! THIS DESERVES ALL CAPS. Firstly listen to the song 'The Trapeze Swinger' and then listen to the album The Creek Drank The Cradle but when you listen to TCDTC start with the song Upward Over the Mountain and then start the album from the beginning and listen the whole way through.
