As with everything else, some swear to live and die for the music and others are just there to fit in to something. There's a lot of misconceptions about metal and artful music in general that the public hold which is a real shame to me. I wouldn't go as far as to say that there's enough variety in there that everyone would like at least something in the genre, but it's very much one of those places where you'd find the type of music that some people think of when they imagine "what if this type of music existed". BDO died here, ran out of money and people kinda stopped going. This year was the last in Auckland, halfway through the day they started giving tickets out for free, and the place was still only maybe 1/3 full, though the lineup was awful. Yeah I don't know if Jeff tripped over or is pulling a Billie Joe. What's your cat's name? Looks cuddlier than mine, I think he's turning senile

Yeah Grimes sold out here too, lucky I got tickets though. My friend seems keen to see Animal Collective over the summer, we'd have to drive up to Auckland, which sounds really fun, it's just that tickets are pretty pricey. The only big festival I've been to is the second to last Big Day Out again in Auckland. What else do you do in your spare time? Also, which of the three pictures on my sidebar is your favourite? :p

Oh maaan, they came here last year but only to Auckland (Wellington here) and I really, really do not like Third (even though I adore their s/t and really love Dummy and the live album/DVD) so I didn't feel as if I missed much, but that sounds so cute, even if she is as old as my mother haha. I'm in my first year of uni, my friend said they played some of Third in the bookstore/coffee shop once. I don't deal with old people much lol, I mean I have some jazz from the 50s to the 70s though I really need to be in the right mood to focus on it, and I guess I'd take a couple of Sinatra albums even though I've not listened to enough to form an opinion on him. Do you go to many shows, other than Portishead?

That's cool. I was about to recommend Björk due to her being sort of maybe a middle ground between Grimes and Aphex, then I saw you had some listens, d'you remember what you thought of her? Also, since you have some Portishead listens I'd check out Hooverphonic's "A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular" and maybe Massive Attack's "Mezzanine". It'd be cool to introduce people to that kinda stuff at work, perhaps you can tell it's something I like doing :p. Just if you want some new stuff. Interesting job?

I can't remember if she's into Aphex Twin herself but I wouldn't be surprised if she was. What've you been enjoying lately?

Have you heard Grimes' Halfaxa? I'd recommend it if you haven't, but if you have how do you feel about it compared to Visions?
