Great taste, Matthew. I noticed your shout on Bowie's "Heroes" album page. Indeed, it's a fantastic album. I'm really jealous because I have never seen Bowie live, and probably never will!

Thanks. You've got good taste too. I'm never on my page. I basically just use this for the scrobbler and recommending of tracks. =)

After seeing Neko in concert, I picked up "Furnace Room Lullaby". I actually think it is my favorite album by her, what do you think?

I just got back from the Neko Case concert... I got chills. She played like 6 or 7 songs from her upcoming album. All I can say is, if those songs are an indication, this new one is going to give her other work a serious run for their money.

Funny, Calexico and Chad Vangaalen were 2 of the 4 artists on my "download when you get home" list.

it's just a toy, you remember. And then you finally strangle it to stopping. And then someone slams the door and it starts crawling on you again and you have to go through it all again. And then during Little Johnny Brown, Sam gets up and does the weirdest dance/movements ever. Hopefully I'll get the video up soon to show you. Anyhow, it was a fun show, ecclectic with the different styles and setup. They played one song from Mothertongue--the Old Mill Pond, which had an interesting arrangement live, with layering from the computer and Sam. I love the disjointed nature of it.

Haha. :) Later, I'll have some photos and a video up somewhere. Anyhow, it was the last stop on their mini tour so Sam Amidon's voice was a little bit gone, but still lovely. They all played together, intermingling. First was a Nico Muhly song, then a Doveman song, then a Samamidon song, and they would switch off, usually playing each other's songs, sometimes one would step backstage while the others performed. There was also a new drummer guy and a viola player who was friends with Nico. I'm a big fan of Samamidon, so those were my favorite parts. Before "Little Johnny Brown," Sam told us "a little about the song," and he said that it was about the future, when there are these toys that look like little dinosaurs that have really life-like dinosaur skin, but they have robotic interiors. And when you clap, they turn on and start to crawl on top of you and you can't get them to stop until you strangle it to death, but you have to remember that you're not killing it because

I've given "Women" more than enough of my listening time, and it's wearing off... Would like to check them out live to see if they can sustain my interest in them. As for Calexico, well, what a beauty of an album, I say. Favourite track??

floating.... floating... floating... floating... *soft breeze comes in* *slight shifting of body in different direction* floating... floating... That's my take on Library Tapes. You're gonna love Yann Tiersen's Tabarly soundtrack which exudes a powerfully transcendent mood as well.

I'll be at that Nico Muhly show. :D I'm really curious as to see how it will be done? Or what he'll play. Super excited for Samamidon though...his style is right up my alley. Yes yes yes Pitchfork! Caribou was pretty great, I agree... Fleet Foxes didn't do their best, the sound was kind of odd, and they were kind of nothing compared to how they were both at Schubas earlier this year and the previous Thursday down at Millennium. They're a smaller venue sort of deal. I wish I could have them serenade me without microphones. :D I didn't get a chance to see Atlas Sound but the Hold Steady was brilliant. Anddd, I was a little incapacitated for Animal Collective, but of course that made it all the more spectacular. I was quite up in the front and everything was just so overwhelming, but lovely. I also didn't get to see Spiritualized but I had friends who went, and I could hear it from the B stage and it sounded amazing

Haha, that's really funny that you mention the lyrics. I just finished entering the rest of the Tallest Man on Earth lyrics into SongMeanings. Today. :] 24 hours before they get through, though. I quite agree on this being one of my favorites of 2008 so far. I've got a couple questions on lyrics though. I'll send them in message form though, since the formatting is easier to deal with.
