Would love to hear your thoughts when you finish, Fire Emblem is one of my favourite series ever. If you ever get a 3DS the Fire Emblem game on it is so ridiculously good and you should play it. And I'm always down to talk about the genre in general because I play them more than any other kind of game.

Sounds like Fire Emblem is pretty much exactly what you're looking for in regards to being tactical and having a permanent death mechanic. Probably not exactly what you're looking for with the art style, but it's quite good in that respect as well. Fire Emblem 7 is generally considered the best entry point, branded here as just "Fire Emblem" on the GBA. You'll have to emulate it, hopefully that doesn't bother you. Not many RPGs are available on services like Steam, unfortunately.

I've only listened to it a couple times myself, but I did enjoy it. Sun Ra is this super fun alien cosmos-surfing figure to me, so his approach to fusion is cool. His persona totally fits with fusion, so it's just this tripped out album that culminates in that cosmic ending. After only a few listens my memory of it is more about feeling than detail, but I'm sure I'll be back to it soon enough. Any other Sun Ra releases you've enjoyed? I'm still a jazz amateur in a lot of ways I think >.< Have a great day!
