Your comment reviewing Art Angels was so irresponsible, rude and insensitive! I loved it!

Based on what you've listened to from Boris so far, you'll want Smile -Live at Wolf Creek-. I really enjoy the heavier music that he does. I love Naked City and Electric Masada, and I was definitely hooked on Psychomagia the very first listen. I wish he'd do some more heavier records. There's also Moonchild Trio, but I just can't get into those albums as much as the former. His smoother music is amazing too. I think The Gift was the first album of his I liked, and really the only album of his that I could listen to for quite some time. It was not easy at first to like his music. But thanks that most good music takes a few listens to appreciate. lol

I saw your post on the John Zorn page. My favourite Zorn albums are: The Big Gundown, Spillane, Naked City, Bar Kohkba, The Circle Maker, The Bribe, Music For Children, The Gift, Filmworks XIII: Invitation to a suicide, Masada Anniversary Edition Vol. 1-5 (All), Filmworks XVII: Notes on Marie Menken, Six Litanies For Heliogabalus, The Dreamers, Filmworks XXIII: El General, O'o, In Search of the Miraculous, The Goddess: Music For the Ancient of Days, At the Gates of Paradise, Nosferatu, Rimbaud, Psychomagia. Plus... Basically any of the Masada albums, I haven't listened to them a whole lot, but basically any Masada album I've heard is quite good. Also, the two Electric Masada albums: 50th Birthday Celebration Vol. 4 and At the Mountains of Madness. And lastly but not least the Naked City album Radio. I Hope that helps you out! Also, I agree with the person below, (Von) trier is the man!

Well, I had to zoom out, since it's 7 years, for smaller time frames (see e.g. here) it can be seen. Which time frame would you be interested in? I can queue your request then in...

Hello James, I like your open-mind in music alterms ("im pretty open to most things"). Since you have in your top3 lab-tags experimental and electronic, I'd appreciate feedback about my own releases. As orientation for you: I tagged my album tracks mostly with [tag]experimental[/tag], [tag]minimal[/tag], [tag]violin[/tag], [tag]wood and string[/tag], [tag]piano[/tag], ... I didn't participate. a friend of mine did but his submission wasn't accepted. it would've been exciting though. I wasn't fairly au fait with glitches before. Even my friend was kind of starting to get into it so he didn't expect his submission to get accepted. did you submit anything there?

What would you recommend from Nine Inch Nails? I have been meaning to check them out but not sure where best to start. What would you consider the essential albums?

I'm glad to hear you found some stuff you like! I've only listened to the first two Durutti Column albums so far, and they are both pretty good, especially LC, which has an amazing atmosphere to it. The Fall have a massive discography and I've only listened to a handful of their better albums, but my favorite is probably Hex Enduction Hour. Some would argue that This Nation's Saving Grace is their best, or even Live at the Witch Trials, and you can't go wrong with either of those. There is also a great compilation called 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong which spans their entire career through 2004, including the singles and highlight tracks from each album. That might be the best place to start if you're looking for a general overview, though I'd say all their early albums through the 80s are worth checking out. Still working my way through their discography, though, so there may be some good newer material out there as well!

Saw your shout on the Brian Eno page regarding his ambient material and there are a few albums I would recommend. In my opinion his Ambient 1: Music for Airports is essential listening, and Ambient 4: On Land is easily my favorite of any of his ambient work. Discreet Music is one of the better albums, as well as Thursday Afternoon. He has done a few collaborations with Harold Budd that are quite good, particularly The Pearl, which I consider to be among his best, and Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror. There are others, but those are my favorites from what I've heard thus far. Let me know what you think! :)
