Hi jalopy22! ROTH is a Swedish pop-duo composed of Gustav and Julia whose vocal harmonies take influences from all sorts of music from Queen to Feist. Hailing from a southern suburb of Stockholm, the duo are determined to produce and record more music with their pop- and rockinfluences. Check out their latest single here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYYcM4WDUVM and let them know what you think about it!

so, I really want to start a local folk(ish) collective, I was wondering if you'd wanna help me out... also, I'm writing a local art/music blog, wanted to know if you'd wanna write a post or at least comment on the scene for it, I know you don't really know me, but you seem cool and you know Pat which is points in my book!

Yeah, it's cool to see a tight collective make it somewhere, it's something I wish I was a part of, but they're a bit amateur. I feel like they could get better in time, especially with some more funding and a bit more direction, maybe rely on something other than just shock value

yeah, I love hip hop, I'm not totally positive of how I feel about him either, some of the stuff is hit and miss, especially the beats, and the lyrics get disturbing at times but that doesn't bother me much... I dunno, for some reason I'm totally fascinated by the whole OFWGKTA thing, I think I just like how together they are, how collective and how goofy... and I do like a good amount of the songs like "Yonkers" pr "Sandwiches" ore "64" from Mellowhype

it's good. it's much more personal. seems like a natural style progression, as much as i love the grandeur of his debut.

Yess... I only listened to the first song though. I haven't had enough time to really sit down and listen to the whole thing. I'm so happy that you get to see him again! I want to hear all about your experience.

No, silly. Like, the location in Rhode Island that they wrote all of their music. Ya know?

I haven't!!! And Justin Vernon is my hero.. so shows how much I keep up with him. And yes, RI is a sweeeet place to be from. It was cool reading the Low Anthems cover where it says they wrote all of their music, because I can totally picture it in my mind.

yes I love them! And I've heard bits of their new stuff. Not bad at all. I didn't instantly fall in love with it which is a good thing. They are playing in Nashville in April... you should come!!

no but I will do that like... right now. Speaking of good music... did you know Scarlett Johansson can sing?! Listen to her and Pete Yorn's stuff. So good. A lot like She & Him, if you're into that kind of thing :)

I'm sure you know this already, but I thought I'd inform you that Sufjan is on tour. Get your tickets! All the shows around me are sold out and I would hate for you to have to deal with that heart break.

Heh, I sure do. I got into Amiina after I saw them live with Sigur Rós in 2006. They have created some of the most relaxing soundscapes I've ever heard. múm seem to be a bit more experimental with their instruments and vocals than most other post-rock bands. I see them as sort of whimsical. Out of the two, I appreciate múm so, so much more because their music is more varied. I've had a slight love affair with experimental Icelandic music for many moons. :)

now that you mention it, woodpigeon and sufy do have some similar sounds, but i do still think of them each as distinct. discovery sounds a little nuts, but i'll give them a try if you insist.

so last.fm just emailed me saying i had a message, right? when i clicked on the email, for some reason it scrolled down a little so i could see what you sent, the best regards of the last.fm team, but not that you wrote the message. i thought they wrote it, and i thought it was very strange that last.fm wanted to know if i have a dropbox. i believe i should, but ive never used it before, so i dont know it its set up properly. however, im loving grizzly bear and interested in this so-called "newest album" of which you speak.
