Yea. I also try and not get bitchy when it comes to production thanks to the gazillion black metal bands I used to listen to back in the day, but Insomnium would definitely benefit from a better soundscape in this case. Perhaps you'll like it more than me - as I said, it's a slow grower but even though the drawbacks remain, it still has its decent moments. Black Heart Rebellion is a nice example of how blast beats work for them when put to good use. Lose to Night is a nice ballad but it burns out rather fast. So yes, I'd definitely stick to the 'Swedish' side of the album - CW, Ephemeral, Revelation... Niilo even nails the vocal manners of Mikael and Anders on the verses now and then. Save Shores of Null for a rainy day ;)

Not all that much except it's not even halfway as good as the previous releases. Monotonous, diluted, with a horrible (and I can't stress that enough) production. The guitars don't do much for me too. I managed to like more fragments after continuous spins but the only tracks I dig at full max are Collapsing Words, which sounds very Character-istically DT-ish, so to speak, and Ephemeral which is old news. The rest varies from mid-tempo to doomy stuff with post-rock hints. Imagine Enshine's spirit mixed with Saukkonen's predictability, throw a very distant late Alcest vibe and you have it. Some people would say it's a more contemplative album but I'm not sure it would do them justice. О да, Image of Time восхитительный трек, лучший в альбоме. Да и вообще в целом альбом хороший получился, немного середина провисает, а так все на высоте. Но Мантру им не удалось переплюнуть.
