Alriiiiiiiight!!! I can't WAIT to listen to this one! I did check out the advance single and like it very much, but it's been a crazy week and I wanted to sit down and listen to it properly, a few times... but now here's the album! I love the album cover, and I love the idea of closing with Pavel's Song. Also very excited that most of it is new to me. Not kidding when I say this is one of my most anticipated albums of the past three years!!!

Oh, good call wanting to get into him! After the Gold Rush is a good place to start, very open, melodic & welcoming. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is also an excellent starting-point because you get both his gorgeous folky side and his feverish guitar-driven all-out rock. Mark Lynch was won over completely by a solo acoustic show alone (and I'm not sure he's ever branched out, even), so that approach clearly works if you've the right disposition, but to be on the safe side I'd recommend going with one of the two aforementioned albums, lest all the acoustic tracks seem too samey at first. Enjoy!

I've only just begun getting into the Beach Boys really, by the way, but I sure do love what I hear! SMiLE is definitely the best of those I've started exploring (Today, Summer Days, Pet Sounds, Smiley Smile, Wild Honey), just ingenious.

The band is a lot of fun when we get together, but we don't often find the time, so it's slooooow going. More importantly, how are you and your group doing? Any luck finding a drummer?
