Heather, I see you've been digging into some Jeff the Brotherhood--I love them. Great live too. You should check out their previous record Heavy Days as well--it's not quite as good all the way through as We Are the Champs, but the peaks are even better.

Nice one Heather, sat lonely at work today so seems appropriate use of my time to wade through that box play list. Thanks.

Just the OR gig - so hopefully see The Antlers too, sound ace on Spotify. PS: hopelessly addicted to Dolorean music now...

Thanks Heather - I am loving the latest Dolorean, will def. try and see them next week. That and the Mermaid EP - good times.

Cool thanks, I'm on them. The Deaf has got pretty much my dream line up next week-ish: Broken Records & Freelance Whales. Might have a few cheeky drinks there...

Hey Heather - we're getting there with Enron. Finally listened to it today -mmm not bad but def. a collection of Peter Gabriel demos circa 1981. Also glad to see you're going to both GYBE shows - awsomesque stuff. Did you see them 1st time round?

Tillman was great indeed, I'm a huge fan of his. Did you happen to catch his Lincoln Hall show last year? It was right around the time when the place just opened. Totally different crowd, there was maybe 50 people tops and everyone was very respectful. Fantastic show. I was pretty upset about his Empty Bottle experience, he deserved so much more than that.

I've been noticing you go to a lot of the same shows as I do so I think we should become last.fm friends :)

Righto - I suspect it will be £10 on the nail... Saw Blue Roses support St Vincent last year(?). Also on the bill were Table - highly recommended. If you can't find any I'll email some tracks. They always sing flat though *boom boom*.

Me (or at least friend) are going to Shearwater on Saturday. Shall I pick up one of the new instrumental CDs for you?

Hi Heather, Here is Okkervil River's set list of the Tel Aviv show: http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs247.snc1/9426_1202628235967_1536424201_537474_7760510_n.jpg There was a second encore which is not there and included 3 more songs, can't recall what it was. I'll try to find out later. One of their best shows ever.

I did not know that about the "You'll Never Walk Alone" thing - is Clinic or Shearwater that do that. It was absent at our gig as far as I can recall. It's a pretty distinctive tune. Shall take a look that YouTubeyness :) I'm looking forward to Brendan Benson a lot. I find his stuff more immediately accessible than most and the other half (who has seen him solo previously) really rates him live too so we're both excited about it :) You've got some interesting stuff to see coming up, not even heard of The Drones or The Weakerthans - great names though! Goldheard Assembly are really rather a small band here. I don't think they're even officially signed yet although there are whispers of an ep out on Fierce Panda soon (fingers Xed). They're not a million miles away from Okkervil River (but also far from identical) and also give good gig. :)

Is that him on here (that's the Sloop John B bit, isn't it? Gosh - can tell I've a lot to learn here!)? Shall give that a new appreciative listen later :) Fountain of knowledge, you! Yes I can see having 2 writers in a band = potential issues. Raconteurs are quite interesting in the respect - can hear which is whose tune sometimes. We're seeing Brendan Benson and The Dead Weather a few days apart, suppose need to see Green Hornets and Kills to complete the set! There's a good little band I recommend called Goldheart Assembly who also have the doubleheader writer thing going. As for Clinic, Jonathon said they were their favourist band in the world which was lovely and also quite odd. They did a split set of two parts each band alternating. Not really sure why as it certainly took time with each change of set up. No collaborations or interaction on stage between bands so I didn't really get the impression of great camaraderie, etc. hence surprised at "favourite band" accolade at the end.

Hee hee your age is safe with me because I'm not familiar with Styx, etc and shan't look the album up in order to protect the mystique! Shearwater weren't bad as they're not really my sort of thing. Some tracks stood out more to me - generally the shorter, more upbeat stuff. They played at least 3 new tracks (but I'm not sure what they were). There was no Sheffness (has he left the line up?) but I don't think he was musically missed that much. Jonathon had a really good, strong vocal style. Clinic where quite fun too. Their vocalist was ill so they did a mostly instrumental set but where the crowd knew the lyrics, they filled in the chorus which was really fun to hear (and join in when drift caught). I was telling our friend about you and your extensive Okkervil River knowledge. I said I'd put him in touch with you. He's called JailhouseJoe on here :) As for the identified inverse proportional relationship between venue size and gig attendance frequency - I agree! :)

Had a look at your site. Good work :) It's pretty comprehensive and also can tell it's a labour of love in a good way. Interesting that you can't quite recall how you got into Okkervil River, I suppose it really doesn't matter, the important thing is that you found them! lol I know about them through my other half who was introduced to them by a friend (who we're off to see Shearwater with tonight, JailhouseJoe on here), but where he found them, I don't know. Shall ask tonight! As for Travis, I find it quite odd that it took me that long to go to my first music gig (I was about 20) but I like the fact I can remember clearly what it was. Some people have been gigging for so long or much that they can't remember! Saying that, I have *no idea* what my first self-purchased album or single would have been! Something very "of it's time" and cheesy no doubt! hee hee Have a good weekend, whatever you're up to :)

I bow to your extensive and deep knowledge of the musical activities of Will Sheff and friends! :) Clearly you've been with them a while - how did you first get into them and is it quite interesting watching them gain international appeal? They are still quite small here which is good because when they gig, you can actually stand practically under Sheff's nose if you desire, however they do deserve much more attention! Yes, they're sort of a treasured secret band :) I see you've been listening to I Am Kloot. I saw them in 2001 but sadly I wasn't as "in" to music to appreciate them as much as I would do now. It's also nice to see that you've got loads of different artists in your "library". Sometimes people can get wrapped up in a band and that's all they'll care about (my husband works with a Wedding Present fanatic like that). It's good to be open eared and explore unchartered stuff :)

Hi Heather, thanks for swinging by :) I see you're just a *tiny* bit into Okkervil River then? hee hee We saw them at Manchester on Friday and it was a good gig although I was surprised there wasn't any new material aired - thought i'd heard they've just finished recording a new album? Anyhow, we're off to Shearwater this week as a nice complementary gig to last week :) Have you seen Shearwater? Not so familiar with them but am thinking from hearing Rook, it's a bit mellower than Okkervil River? :)
