took me a few listens, but i dig the new autolux now. that carla song at the end is a keeper. i recall that being a standout when i saw them play live last time and didn't recognize any of the new stuff... and please forgive the late night drunken shouts i'm always embarrassed to read over when i re-visit your page. (wonder twins? seriously?)

i'll give it another go... i saw them play the new stuff a couple times live, and even then wasn't fully convinced. that being said, i wasn't an immediate fan of the first album, but ended up being a super fan of it (wonder twin powers... activate! not really sure where i'm going with that), so perhaps it'll grow on me. nuts about chapterhouse, huh? i still don't actually have tickets to that thing, as a few months ago when it was announced, it seemed like a year off, but i need to hunker down as i'm afeared that mofo will sell out... i'm almost afraid to even go check.

she was pretty chill... certainly didn't have any sort of rock star pretense. hope all is good with you. i see you got some pretty nice shows lined up for the near future. don't have tickets yet, but hopefully will get to see Pavement at the Hollywood Bowl in Sept. Would love to see them in Berkeley next week, but couldn't get my act together quickly enough.

Nice to see someone listening to Miranda Lee Richards (and I'm not surprised it's you, since you're always awesome :P)... saw her play live a while back in San Diego, in support of Neil Halstead, and she sat down at our table after her set and was super endearing and awesome, let us buy her drinks, and wanted to know where to grab breakfast food (at midnight), and I love her for it for ever and always.

hey man... just saw them play here last night. was a completely different experience from when i saw them all grumpy down in San Diego a few months back. they were really into it, and put on a great show. carla sang a new (at least i think it's new) song that was pretty amazing. i hope they get around to releasing their new album within the next 5 years :P

You'll have to let me know how the show goes. I haven't picked up tix for the show out here yet. I saw them a few months back at a show in San Diego, and was really kind of let down. I'm not sure what the deal was, but the band seemed really surly and unpleased with the audience, so I ended up being kind of uncomfortable and unable to get into the music. They played a bunch of new stuff, which was kind of exciting, though...

Hit and miss live...sometimes great, sometime unintelligible. I'll look to see if I can find something, but I don't really remember ever having any live stuff (maybe some open-air cassettes from early on).

I really am excited about the new Engineers. I pre-ordered to get some bonus CD when it comes out on the 29th. Everything that I've heard leads me to think it's going to be great! I'm such a dud with song names, I had to go check my catalogue to see why "Thrasher" reminded you of them... had there not been a track by that name, I really would've been confused, or would've just guessed that they were skaters or something :P

I was hoping that these would just be original versions stripped of some of the silly overproduction, but they sound like kind of shoddily recorded demos that leave me wanting for the old album verions. I always liked their noisier stuff too (in fact, there's a version of Satin Safe (inexplicably renamed 'Thrasher') on this new thing that isn't horrible... just sounds kind of like it was recorded on cassette or something). Never got to see those dudes play live either, though I did meet them at an in-store record signing at Aron's way back when... 18 years you say? That's frightening!

Thanks...Yeah, myself and Kevin K. are day jobbers now, but at least one of us is still going. The rhythm section joined Heartless Bastards after we hung it up (Erica was our bassist's girlfriend at the time) - that lasted until last year sometime, and now Kevin V. (drummer) is in a band from Dayton called "Lab Partners." Mike's probably doing something, but I'm not sure what.

How you been Joseph??! I haven't been around last.fm much lately, but just noticed you are going to see MBV soon! I'm extremely jealous, but unfortunately don't have the time or funds to go see them (would be a far trip to go to austin or denver for me). Well I hope it's a great show. If you remember to, please drop me a shout afterwards and let me know how it was. Peace out!

for realzies this time... i'm obligated to drag my ass down to san diego since i have will call tickets for other people in my name. glad to hear BJM was good. i can't imagine the humongous Nokia theater was the best place to see them out here, so i'm not regretting my cancellation of that show. enjoy the MBV show and please do let me know how it goes. later brutha.

Haha sorry I got overly enthusiastic there. I just remember whenever Schoolhouse Rock came on, I stopped everything I was doing...yeah, work's still keeping me from the nightlife...even worse now they'd laid off some people-asking for days off is a bitch. At least MBV are headed in to your area

Sorry, I never noticed your shout! So a year later... you mean this: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/11429-forever-changes-collectors-edition/ - I got that! Oh and guess what! MBV is coming to Seattle in April!!! :D I won't miss them, and need to travel only about two miles :)

see, i can't find any sense in showing people what music i listen to. Besides, i get embarassed when they say "You're on that shit again" when i keep playing the same song for the whole day. And what the hell is that 30 sec preview? Who's gonna get hurt if I listen to THE song i've chosen - not the one on the radio?

Back in the 80's there was a Two Tone movie called "Dance Craze". I think it was only released in the UK. It was mostly concert footage of The Beat, Madness, Bad Manners, Specials, The Bodysnatchers and The Selecter. I had the soundtrack album, and did buy a bad VHS dub years ago from an ad in Goldmine magazine (which I tossed later). Here's a taste: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0teIQ2fWB4 Also, have you seen this guy's channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/crelp74
