I really like that video with Jim O'Rourke, its ace!!! I have been going to quite a few shows recently, I actually caught Nissenenimondai's London show a few weeks ago. I also saw Ruins collaborate with Acid Mothers Temple last week. You should check out 'Gum takes Tooth'.....they're one of my favorite London bands at the moment, listen to 'young mustard' on they're myspace. http://www.myspace.com/gumtakestooth What Japanese bands can you recommend? Anything new from Tokyo?

hey Haraco sorry about the late reply, thanks for recommending those authors, I do really love Japanese literature so anything new is very exciting, I'm going book shopping this week so I'll be sure to pick up some of their stuff _ I'll let you know how I get along. If I was to recommend a western writer I'd say Phillip Roth, I'm really into his stuff at the moment. When I was in Japan I really went all over the place, I spent a week in tokyo then took the train all the way up to Hokkaido, from there I headed back south to Aomori and then further down to Kyoto, Osaka and Kyushu. I made loads of other stops as well, one of my favorite places was Kamikochi where I done a lot of hiking. From Kyushu I traveled all the way back up to Tokyo where I spent another week. Last weekend I was at the 10th Anniversary of ATP, its a festival we have here in the UK and NY. I saw Afrirampo who were brilliant, they were my favorite act with Lightning Bolt, they both completely stole the show.

hey that looks like an interesting exhibition, I was listening to 'Dreams' from his new Jazz ensemble, I like it a lot! A few years ago I was in Japan, I stayed for two months and I loved it, I found so many interesting creative outlets. I reckon I'll try and make a return visit soon, maybe even try and live there for a while! Oh the Soundtrack that Otomo Yoshihide composed for kitchen was brilliant but the actual film was a disappointment, its based on a novel by Banana Yoshimoto, it's a beautiful story _ if you haven't read it you should give it a go. I reckon my one of my favorite bands in London at the moment has to be 'Shit and Shine', they consist of four to six drummers and two guitarists _ a bombardment of static noise, drone and drums, possibly one of the best live acts I've seen! They've just released a new album 'Girls against Shit' which is by far their best material so far, check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8qImvmYkN0

hey I don't actually know much about otomo yoshihide apart from that he composed the Kitchen soundtrack, I have heard loads of good things though so if you could recommend somewhere to start that would be ace! Have you listened to Olaibi? it's one of Yoshime P's side projects, they're all about the drum which I love _ unlike OOIOO they've taken much more of an early ethnic influence on board.
