Glad you're enjoying Kip! He's a very underrated figure, strange given the quality of his collaborators and the work itself. Thanks for the Fresu/Sosa recommendation, it's lovely Sunday music, hints of Jon Hassell in Fresu's playing (I think they're friends). He hasn't released anything for six years or more, I've been wondering what happened to him.

Ah, I see you're listening to his latest which I think is possibly his weakest. Would recommend its predecessor much more highly: Beautiful Scars (2007) then Exotica (1992) and A Thousand Nights And A Night (Night-1) (1996). There are so many. Hope you're not put off by At Home With Anger, it has some great elements, but they don't cohere successfully, at least to these ears. Will give the Fresu a listen, thank you for the recommendation.

It's worth a listen, first impressions are that it's an interesting experiment. For bass pressure and left-field orientation I'd choose Shackleton, but Mala in Cuba dovetails nicely with Mount Kimbie's long player for dubstep meets light and heat. I wonder how different Cuba would be after 30 years...

I've been having an extended break from In A Silent Way. I still remember the sense of the music's strangeness on my initial listens - that was worn away by listening to it too many times over the years. Now's the time to return to it I think.

I see you're listening to the parts of Silent Way from the complete sessions. It's a strange collection of pieces I think. I was quite unsure about Columbia releasing the extended box sets, but now I love them, particularly the Miles and Coltrane, Jack Johnson and On The Corner sessions.
