I've been using Skale Tracker exclusively thus far, but i'd hesitate to recommend it, as i think i mainly use it just because i'm used to it. It has some missing features and shortcomings that are finally becoming unavoidably irritating (there are a lot of VSTs it doesn't support properly, for example). I intend to try Renoise one of these days; i've heard good things.

It's not really chip music, is probably the biggest thing. I use wave generators to create simple waveforms (usually squares, sometimes sines and triangles, for the melodic instruments, and usually noise for the drums, although lately i've been using drum samples) and sequence them using a tracker ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracker_(music_software) ). The tracker has some rather distinctive effects built in, as well, like an arpeggiator and a portamento, so those contribute to the sound at times. I don't feel like i can justifiably call my music "chip music," but that's what other people call it and that's the crowd that generally seems to enjoy it so i guess that's what it is. I'm glad you enjoy it (i assume you enjoy it). Check out the new album i just released if you've got the time!

I listened to Same Beat a while ago and remember enjoying it quite a bit, I'll download something overnight for sure. Now you need to get around to listening to Bongwater

I can't help my enjoyment for Crystal Castles/Kanye/Kid Cudi. ;___; Well, you should totally recommend me some stuff to make me stop though, I'm in need of new music.

Oh, if I may recommend something, you should download Too Much Sleep by Bongwater, they're surprisingly similar to the Residents.

Well, I brought it back, all things considered it is a shitton cooler. And erm, if it makes you feel any better, I totally Kid-Cudi-ed myself out.

I guess my Residents avatar was cooler, but I'm going to assume that you're calling me unattractive.

I leave your shoutbox for a very short period and you get attacked by an Anberlin fan? Why is my shoutbox not this exciting? ;_;

It was actually completely coincidental that I was forced to stop listening due to a broken laptop, but I still can't help but feel your shout triggered this occurrence.

The more Crystal Castles plays I accumulate, the more our compatibility goes down. >_<

It moved up .01% with the addition of one of your top artists. This seems scary.

Well, I'm getting around to listening to disc 1 of 69 Love Songs after having it on my hard drive for months, maybe this could push us up?

Thanks a bunch for the recommendations, I know very little about rap outside of DOOM and all his side projects and you're definitely pushing me towards stuff that I like way more. Deltron 3030 was awesome and I should be getting to the other two soon. :D

I think that your taste is a bit too awesome, I downloaded Busdriver because it was it was in your recent plays a few days ago and I really needed more rap in my collection. Holy fuck he's godly
