Ummmmmm I actually did not go. I set my alarm for 4am to get up and get to the airport that morning, and it didn't go off. I woke up at 6:30 in a panic and tried to get on a later flight, but the next one from Denver to Seattle wouldn't get me there in time to see the show, so I brooded about it and went to an art museum that day instead. Thinking about it makes me want to off myself, so I'm trying not to.

I was waffling on whether or not to go, but I just bought my plane ticket to see Slowdive in Seattle the other day. You'll have to let me know how it is after you see them tomorrow night!

Wholly agreed about Boston. I was at a wedding in San Francisco late last month, and I met this truly obnoxious woman from Boston whose accent made me think she was joking. They are loud, rude, pushy, deliberately obnoxious people, and I have no desire to visit their mothership of a city. DC is potentially on the table. I've got a lot riding on whether or not I find a new job before then.

I'm super excited that Low is opening for every date except Boston because fuck Boston, so now I'm that much more into the idea of heading out to Seattle for the occasion, though I thought about the DC show, as it also falls on one of my nights off. Things are great! I just got back from a trip to San Francisco for a friend's wedding, and now I'm all pumped up to chill out for the rest of the summer. How are things on your end?

Nice call on the 9:30 Slowdive show! They are skipping Denver, so I was looking at which shows I might be able to hit on one of my days off. Right now it's looking like Seattle, and I'm buying my ticket on Friday.

OM was great! Really eerie and way heavier live than on the albums. Also, it wasn’t nearly as smoky in the venue as I expected, being they played 4/20 and all that. I bought one of my DC friends this really beautiful tour print that’s about 3/5 my total height, and now I’m losing my mind that it didn’t get there despite having put delivery confirmation on the package when I shipped it. Side note, but somewhat relevant since I bought it at the show.

I absolutely love mine! It's especially cool when I get naked with a dude and he 1) gets it and 2) appreciates it and its significance. That's rare, however. I also love it because one of my best friends and I got ~matching~ designs, only they're in different places. No regrets. I'm actually planning to add to mine when there's money to work on that project instead of others. Part of what's nice about it is the fact that Bikini Kill hasn't made music in 20whatever years, so it's not like they're going to start sucking. I met Kathleen at a lecture a few years back, and she was awesome. I know what you mean about meeting your favorites and having them suck as people, though I can't think of an instance where that's happened. I met Deftones' Chino, and he was sort of stony-faced/not friendly, but wasn't actively a dick.

I was wondering about his autobiography in terms of whether or not it was worth reading. The only type of nonfiction I can get through without having to drag myself kicking and screaming is autobiographies/memoirs, and he seems like an interesting enough person. I will probably get it from the library at some point just to see. That said, I have a Bikini Kill tattoo.

You want to know something wild? I was looking at all my shouts from beginning to end, and you definitely left me one in, like, 2009. You were the other person who joined the band-themed tattoo group I unsuccessfully tried to get up and running!! What is your band tattoo? (Or am I incorrectly assuming you have one?)

I had every intention of making it publicly viewable when I bought the domain name and generally put effort into its upkeep. I even had business cards made for it so I could keep track of nice people I met at shows and wherever else, but at this rate it'll never happen. What else do you like about being a subscriber? I'm not thrilled that they're discontinuing the radio function, but damned if I'm not excited to buy a last.fm tshirt at some point because, weirdly, I've always wanted one. I have a coat very similar to the one you're wearing in your photo, only mine has this huge monster collar and is way too big for me to the point where I haven't worn it in years.

I've been a subscriber for years not because I NEED TO KNOW who's looking at my page (though I like that feature a lot) but because I cannot fucking handle the ads. Sometimes I log out and then go to look at my page and see them, and it makes me want to scream. Advertising sucks so much. I will almost always spring for the paid version of something if it is free of ads. Also, I'm really excited you have a Wordpress page. I have one that I've been maintaining for years; I think you saw an earlier iteration of it when I first left a shout on your page. Since then I've bought a domain name and have almost finished re-doing the images of my ticket stubs in addition to making some other, mostly cosmetic changes. One day it will be totally finished and releasable.

Still totally jealous you saw the Black Angels. They played here the first New Year's Eve that I lived here, but I didn't go because I didn't know who they were, fuck me. Still waiting on seeing them again. I'm really excited for Warpaint for a number of reasons: one of my last.fm pals is meeting me in Aspen, I'm excited to spend 3.5 hours in the car by myself, and of course mostly the fact that I've been following these wonderful women since I was in college without having seen them live until now. I did see Russian Circles a couple weeks ago, and Inter Arma did indeed open. That show was fucking insane in all the best ways, and I'm more grateful than I can say that I braved the cold to get to that venue, which is walking distance from my house. PS I'm drunk.

I had kind of a shit show night last night, but otherwise I'm okay! I got into grad school again, I'm starting a new job next week, and I'm looking forward to a bunch of shows coming up. If everything goes according to plan, I'm going to be driving out to Aspen to see Warpaint in April. How were the Black Angels recently?
