moin broth, first: xcuse my rough engl. (i just picked it up on the streets...) yeah, when it comes 2 shostakovich - i meant it more humouresk when i say i may share the same taste as stalin (haha) what i just was trying to say - after the critic of the goverment his music becomes not worse - quite the opposit. it was the so called "socialist realism" and so evil it listen like (i a bit ashamed to admit this:) after that "critic & pressure his music becomes quite "firm" and straightforward, see: the architecture and all that, specially the 7th for excample - the first mov. that bolero (no decadent talkin around the corner, no just straight the horror & the terror & the resistance!!) and that kind of bizzarre schizophrenic macabre sense of notorious humour - wow, its like mahler when he brings a german folksong that simple & brutal that u get frighten... like "oh du lieber augustin / alles ist hin" ( schönberg grap a few of this motivs as well.) under pressure, diamants are growing...!

hey buddy, how thinx going. listen 2 shostakovich here on last.fm is a bid of a problem 4 me. i rather prefer 2 listening to the whole symphonie / stringquartet. got the whole lot on cd... so i going 4 "classic" (or should i say: the classic classic (hehe)) just occasional. anyhow, whats your opinion to the 4th. strangely i prefer the 5th (so do i back up stalins critic in the end of the day?????) yeah, often when i think bout shostakovich i found myself in a quite schizophrenic situation. more challenging 4 me are the (late) stringquartetts anyway... all the best 2 u

Sounds like YOU'VE been associating with William Wegman. Man Ray and Fey Ray couldn't spell worth shit, but The Hardly Boys almost made it to the National Spelling Bee.

Wow. I've never met a weimaraner who could spell "pulchritudinous" correctly. They tend to be good with grammar but lousy at spelling.

Greetings to the man who judges Prokofiev's "Larghetto" to be "bad ass", a milestone in musical criticism!

ur kiddin man, no joke ligeti is my most loved composer ever....!! his pianoconcerto with aimard is hilarious - that polyrythm drives me mad!!. yeah, ur re right, shostis 10th is very strong. wasn t that the symph he dedicated 2 stalin (i m not quite sure). however, i would compare the 10th withthe 5th (just spontanous spoken now). guess i don t need 2 mention ligetis atmosphere... all the best and good night... (in hamburg its 3:30am) postscript.: that dedication was of cause a bizarre one, and employed in a sarcastic way... (or should i say: zynical...) bye now

so, one or more funnels is a nonsense joke made by an italian actor, funnel in italian is imbuto: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQwMYcFXhXs, and: "the funnels, one or more” is a little collective which wander around the net. A funnel is used in order to pour through, if used in reverse it becomes a mouthpiece (to be read as ‘loudspeaker’). The funnels accomplish this task for free, only for the sake of funneling. http://www.last.fm/group/imbuteria

I laughed out loud at your reference to Ravel's orchestrations as " booty shaking" :D Though I like Mussorgky's original piano arrangement of "Pictures at an exhibition", I like Stokowski's orchestral transcriptions of Mussorgky's works even better. I don't know how close Ravel's arrangement is to Stokowski's. Its been a while since I have heard Ravel's version. I guess some booty shaking is in order. ;-)

Hey, I understand how that guy that you said "not Copland-esque" to thought that it reminded him of Copland. It has themes that sound a lot like Appalachian Spring (especially the part in the Bartok that sounds like "Tis the Gift to be Simple" which Copland uses at the end of A. Spring). I think if you listened to his works more often, you might actually appreciate it more.
