The Best Beatles Covers Playlist Ever
While, perhaps sacrilegious to cover someone as tantamount as The Beatles....these particular covers oft times reinvent the songs and shed new light on what The Beatles may have tried to convey. My favorite is Sufjan's version of 'What Goes On'. Johnny Cash's version of 'In My Life' really hits the soul. She and Him and Holly Cole look at things from a woman's perspective. Grandaddy's cover of 'Revolution' is the only good cover on the entire piece of crap that is the 'I Am Sam' Soundtrack. Eddie Vedder doing one of my favorite Beatle's songs is priceless. Nina Simone on 'Revolution (Part 1)' is one of the best examples of her versatility. Chris Eckman of 'The Walkabouts' slows things down and puts together an amazing version of a Ringo Starr classic. I could go on....
