Wintersun was an example of a good but still bright death growl. Pick any finnish melodeath/powerdeath band and you'll have an almost equally good example. Bad or even horrible examples of bright deathgrowls are those used in for example Bring Me The Horizon, and it's those kind of growls that I refer to as deathcore growls.

Claiming that classical death metal growl is a boring genre conformity that you wish to break is like saying that salomon is the worlds most common fish. The reason I wish for classic death metal growl, and that many listeners of real death metal wish for it, is because it simply sounds better. Note as well that there is not only the dark, guttural growl like Cannibal Corpse, but there's also brighter growls that still stays death, like for instance Wintersun or Ensiferum. Deathcore/metalcore growls aren't disliked because they're new, but because they make one facepalm because it sounds so horribly stupid and bad. However, you may see that there's a hell of alot people who listen to deathcore and similar, meaning that using a deathcore growl is in fact not making a new genre, it's just changing to a different one.

I hope we grow and accomplish this more as time goes on. more dirty evial and euphoric and light..at the same time..to mirror each other as we exist as a mix of both and to assume otherwise is a delusion and an imbalance that is of negative effect to the all we both in habit and are a part of...if you get me. I hope that wasnt too out there or self righteous, but I hope to speak my mind clearly.

well.. for my band, I appreciate you think we can get better and we hope to as time goes on..as for hating hippies I hate blind hippocriful short sided idealists...and pessimists equally,. (the true mening of hippy being fashionable trendy types..as opposed to the spititual connotations, as with dark tranquility and many other artists, iactually support such ideas) ...so for now I hope the music embodies the duality of light and dark..and will become more technical while continuing with moments of ambience and beauty to contrast the darker side...which is not as present now as i want it to be...I am only the vocalist. buit I agree, i would like for the music to go deeper into the void/light respectively. Take care I am all about the balance, acknowledging the dartkness while looking tot he light. While musically going as deep into each as possible.

You say you guys hate hippies yet you play deathcore... Play real death metal for fuck sake! You could be so much better than you are!
