Hey, as for the recommendations, if you like Devin, check out Ayreon - fantastic prog metal opera, really insane music, on the album "The Human Equation" Devin was actully one of the guest singers. From similar prog stuff you may also like Pain of Salvation (Remedy Lane, Be), Dream Theater (Scenes from a Memory), Phideaux (Doomsday Afternoon). Have fun!

He is the Strapping Young Lad's singer isn't he? I just heard SYL discography but not his solo stuff. I'll check it out! Thanks :)

It's fucking amazing. At first listen I didn't liked it too much, but as everybody says, it grows on you with a few listens. They're doing an excellent work playing it live!

That's a tough one. I've been trying myself to find another band or artist to scratch that Zappa itch, but Zappa is one-of-a-kind. Keneally is the closest I've found, and besides that I can't really say that you'll be entirely satisfied. However, bands like French TV and miRthkon are very entertaining and seem to have attempted to carry on the Zappa spirit. I also think Idiot Flesh and Perhaps Contraption would be worth checking out.

We do have a lot in common. An eerie amount. Are you me? I'd feel bad for you if you were. Insect migration patterns sounds very boring! BUT, music recs I can do, and if you are indeed me (like I am) then you probably very much enjoy Tub Ring, Man Man, Naked City, Butthole Surfers, Polkadot Cadaver, The Jesus Lizard, Major Parkinson, Dog Fashion Disco, El-Creepo!, Idiot Flesh, Einsturzende Neubauten, and Estradasphere. That's a good start. Fuck yeah on our mutual love for Mike Keneally, that guy deserves to be more well known.

Fred Frith is amazing, I like his solo work more though. and not a problem. Busdriver is one of the best MCs ever.

Cardiacs are cool. Never listened to Mike Keneally. I'll try him some time. If your looking for math-rock then you'd like Massacre's album Killing Time. It was recorded in 1981 and is like early no-wave, math rock, noise, jazz punk and other cool avant-rock stuff. and Don Caballero is amazing! They're becoming my favorite math-rock band. Also Cheval de Frise is some good math-rock I just got into.

California is my favorite Mr. Bungle album! It's too difficult choose one album over all albums that Mike Patton has done, I think every project have an amazing album!

Cardiacs are just the best! Make sure to listen to The Seaside. The cassette version came with 4 extra songs that weren't included in subsequent releases cause they lost/damaged the masters. It's way better with those 4 songs

Very difficult to narrow it down, he has so many good albums and there are several different phases to consider. The old saying is that if you ask a Zappa fan for his favorite Zappa album he'll give you a list of 5-10. :-) I like Burnt Weeny Sandwich, One Size Fits All and Weasels Ripped My Flesh a lot at the moment so I'll go with those. I usually like his more prog-rock type the most.

Thanks for the friend request, lots of shared likes between us it seems. What's your favorite Zappa album? I seem to be missing a lot of my Mothers of Invention plays because for some reason last.fm doesn't scrobble their name properly.

Between "Sing to God" and ""A little Man..." it's an extremely close call! Although Sing to God has my two favorite tracks of theirs ("Bellyeye" and "Dirty Boy"), I favored more songs off of "A Little Man" and enjoyed the particular flow of that album the best. And you've got some nice Porcupine Trees, by the way!
