Honestly too busy selling Colombian Coffee from our farms to Canadian Roasters to be listening to much music but I guess Latin American music while travelling is soothing if not making me more homesick. Being in 80F (30c+) temperatures in Montreal in MID September is a small consolation.

I guess I can follow-up and say I discovered a few funky bands I played a bit more this month: Brazilian Groove Band, BJ The Chicago Kid, and now I am going to do a deep dive into neo-soul artists I want to discover... Will keep you posted!!!

He only has 449 opportunities to listen to Frank Sinatra for the rest of his life now. Better choose them wisely.

Thank you for the warm appreciation. I am on the discord last.fm channel where people exchange ideas, listening live to playlists on weekly themes. There I follow many music lovers who i admire and follow their scrobble threads. On last.fm, I also mine some people's librairies when it come to different moods. Some week it is classical piano, others R&B, Blues Rock, Opera, Soundtrack composers, pop, chillout. The day's mood (highly weather influenced) will take me on a jounrey. Cheers!

I like nice melodies backed by clever lyrics. Life is too short to be a drone buzzing around dead flowers. Find the nectar and all will be good :)

I had a weird schedule in the last little while and massive insomnia. Trying to catnap during the day, 15 minutes here and there. Things are getting better though. Music helped me through it. I keep thinking of those crazy sailors doing the Vendee Globe ocean race every four years that do that for 80 PLUS days as solo racers. The ultimate feat of endurance in the southern oceans!

I was a bit confused by your statement, "if you listen to more than 5,000 songs of any artist, sleep scrobble". What do you mean? I am a huge Joe Satriani and Rush fan. I listen to music in my car and while I work. I scrobble nearly everything. I don't scrobble songs while I sleep, what would be the point?

Thanks for the question. Joe and Rush are great. I just like to follow people who listen to a lot of different artists in a specific genre. It helps me mine their database and find new gems. 5,000 was an arbitrary number that made it manageable for me. If you have 150 blues-rock guitarists, it is more fun for me to listen to your 2023 find s with 10 listens than Joe 6K...

So you use other people's databases to find gems that you might like and not know about. I have not been very active in trying to find other music to listen to. I do find new artists (at least new to me), but I don't go actively mining for them. I can see how my database might not be too interesting to you. I don't have anywhere near the number of Artists in my collection that you have. But my scrobbles are all music that I own on CD and have ripped to FLAC and MP3s myself. I have my music on Dropbox, my iPod, and my Phone. I listen to music in my car, in my office, and when I am out and about. I have about 800 CDs but only about 550 of them are ripped. I don't stream music from Pandora or Spotify or some other service (not that there is anything wrong with that). I just prefer to own my music. I may have to start using Last.FM to find other similar music...

I got rid of practically all my worldy possesions 9 years ago. At this point, I am happy with cheap earbuds,a cell phone and a laptop. I can't even get my bluetooth speakers to synch in stereo LOL... so mp3 is good enough for me. In Colombia, bars and venues play the music so loud, it ruins the experience for old farts like me. If you find a new generation axeman gem, please let me know!!!

What's with the 5000 play count threshold for any artist's track(s) ? Is that number arbitrary or is there a specific calculation/thought process/pattern for that number ?

Thank you for your question. The answer is no! it is a personal preference. I find that personal obesssion with one artist is often transient. Not too many teens will listen to the same music 15 years later but they are adamant that today's this one or three hip hop or pop artist helps them define their identity and their lyrics are the best. The 5,000 mark basically saves me time from mining their database looking for that gem artist which probably isn't there.

Thanks for your reply. I hadn't thought of the spam filter angle. I arrived at your homepage through La Féline's artist wiki. I often come upon some similar criteria, when going down Last.fm's rabbit hole but those are more like against particular genre or specific artists (k-pop or Cardi B, Drake, etc.). Yours being unique, I had to ask about it.

Very tragic life. He had a huge influence on the other members of PF. I just don't know what contribution he had on the seminal albums.

Wow! This might be the coolest lastfm profile I've seen so far, such a big variety and so many cool artists and genres!! I'm just amazed, there's so many artists here I love or artists I like and want to listen to more or have heard of and want to check out. Just wanted to let you know!! If you have any jazz or classical recommendations I'd love some :)

Thank you for your kind words. Listening to all kinds of music me is like a day at the beach. Depending on the conditions, i will swim , surf, sail or go scuba diving to dig for some juicy bits. Every day is an adventure! Try dumping some of my favorites to a streaming platform and just listen. Don't bother looking at the names , just enjoy while doing other stuff. I often go on long bike rides doing this. RANDOMIZE your adventures!!!
