On my first couple of listens, I would have totally agreed with the comments you've left on their artist page. By the third or fourth listen, I started to appreciate the quality of the songs - such as it is. That's why I called it 'pop' - there isn't a whole lot of depth, but the songs do come into their own after they sink in, and don't pretend to be anything they're not. I agree this record sounds akin to First aid Kit or something, which is not the desired direction for them to take, but I'd stick with it. It did change my initial response, and it may do yours too.
