Oh thanks a bunch:) If I were to into Bon Iver, I'd probably start with his self titled album, then go to For Emma, Forever Ago (Skinny love is the most popular of his songs, but when I first heard it I didn't like him, but after listening to his albums I found it easily likable, which is why I say Bon Iver - Bon Iver before For Emma, Forever Ago), then Blood Bank. His first album For Emma, is very solid folk album. It has a very sincere sadness to it. His next album is a bit more experimental and utilizes a lot more instruments. In my opinion, this leads to a less satisfying album that does not impact me as strongly. There is a beauty in the profound simplicity of the debut that is lost in his second album. TL;DR: He is worth checking out but start with his debut For Emma.

this is actually a lot better than older stuff imo. the beat doesn't feel too gimmicky anymore and his voice doesn't sound exactly like lil' wayne's old material anymore.

If you like black metal try Eld, Frost or Yggdrasill. If you like a more prog/post-rock kinda sound then go for Axioma Ethica Odini.

I'd definitely suggest From Mars to Sirius or The Link first. FMtS was the first I heard from them and I was blown away. Still my favorite. The Link's also got some extremely amazing songs, as does The Way of All Flesh. Really just listen to everything if you can, but if you're starting out with one album go with From Mars to Sirius.
