I'd usually suggest Let Love In as being a broad enough album to start with, however Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus might be better suited to you; try both if you can. Among his darker stuff, From Her to Eternity and Your Funeral, My Trial are probably the best; the former being stranger and rougher, the latter being sad and a bit tragic. But if you want balls-out rawk with intense lyrical depth try Dig, Lazarus, Dig. Those are the best, but there are highlights on all Bad Seeds albums.
