Read your year-end roundup. Good picks. You mention some dislikes from the year. Sufjan, Gorillaz and National were all the same way for me at first but I had enough confidence in those three artists to just keep listening till they finally clicked. The National I'm still not terribly thrilled about (except for the song "England" which is beautiful). Gorillaz I came around to almost in whole but found "Melancholy Hill" and "Empire Ants" to be the best access point to the whole thing. Sufjan I dismissed almost immediately until a friend insisted that I listen again. Let's just say that Age of Adz is for the most part a very psychedelic composition and (I believe, anyway) deserves to be enjoyed accordingly--"I Walked" is a good place to start there I think. Anyways, I guess we'll just hope that 2011 keeps delivering great music.

hey neighbour. i took a look at your blog and all. the decade list caught my attention. heh. there's a couple of things i'm gonna check out (madvillian ... sage francis ... ). there's no hip hop on my list yet - mainly coz i just joined last.fm. do you have any time for the roots?

I think alot of the pretentious "indie"-people call Coldplay and especially Parachutes of as crap because they're "afraid of the hype". Ya, but what's up with listening to Vampire Weekend and Animal Collective then, aye? Seriously, indie-music is about as mainstream as it's possible to get in these days. I enjoy indie, but I don't think of myself as anything special when i'm listening to that "oh so special" band that "noone" has ever heard of even though they have over 30 million plays on last.fm... End of rant.

I was very impressed with your decade list. Like some others, not too big on the Coldplay decision. There are some albums I am not familiar with, but they have jumped to the top of my list because of the strength of your other selections. Good show and thanks for sharing!

Nah, no space yet. I've made a few instrumentals as I gather more equipment. The words will come and once I get what I need, what I have now will sound a lot better. But yeah man, I look forward to hearing more of your music in the future.

listened to the All In demo from your myspace. And coming from someone who wants to make music that sets itself apart from the typical nonsense himself, all I have to say is: Good shit.

shawnnnnnnnn. i'm sorry I haven't yet checked out telemite but it's on the list of things to do. So last night i went to a show at cto and saw an incredible band. Olenka and the Autumn Lovers. You might have heard of them. They are so so so lovely. Like a cross between Beirut and Basia Balut. Please check them out and blog about them. :)

nice review, i get his point of view. but unfortunately he missed that the track is an (ironic) persiflage on those latin-freestyle-songs, which were very popular in germany at the beginning of this decade. for example stevie b or johnny o. well, it's hard to review a track whose language u are not able to speak... ; ) well, none taken.

excuse me but our super compatibility is not a result of anything to do with you, it is simply a natural musical evolution.

concert was epic, no? definitely the best I've been to, hands down. And I totally did end up spending 40 bucks on a tee shirt lol, I couldn't resist! Did you buy one?

I really like the Nas album, and for the most part I like Sly Fox because anything that bashes Bill OReily is fine by me. But the part about Kill Bill and Grindhouse is horribly stupid and hypocritical. Not one of my favorites on the album. I love reading the journals though!

hehe, yeah they do... i'm just disappointed that their show wasn't as great as it could've been... Lee's Palace is a great place to catch indie artists... especially Canadian ones, but I caught The Pipettes there once tho... that was interesting, lol
