SDRE are icons of alternative rock. They have a lot of context, too. The fact I didn't believe was that their rhythm section actually ended up that of the Foo Fighters. So it's good that they are probably rich now. Cool you should mention 1+5+9: I like to play power chords e.g. C like this: x357 or x354 for a 9 or M7. And yeah, Baboon, right? Listen to Chinchilla; I can play it (clean+a tempo)! And no I don't have new mewithoutYou. I'll download it when my DL limit resets. Either that or take your word for it and buy it. Much different from their older stuff (I can't really watch Youtube, my internet is so slow atm)?

Please check out the song 'Baboon'. Unbelievable guitar and rhythms. I mean, REALLY unbelievable, not the normal hyperbole I talk with a lot. They recorded a neat split with CatsX3. Re: CGDGBE, I play that one sometimes except the 4th string is just a C. It's nice. It'd be nicer with the 9, I suppose. I play CGCGCE and FACGCE (which I guess is like your C tuning: open maj9) a fair bit but they're not too interesting. I'm mostly a standard tuning guy. Do you know Sunny Day Real Estate? Their singer guests on 'O Porcupine'.

Tim Collis! And the drummer, his brother Chris Collis. I was thinking of Mark Hollis who I think is the singer of Talk Talk. They are also a band you'd like. (Especially the album Laughing Stock. Think Astral Weeks-era Van Morrison meets Stars of the Lid with the guy from Duran Duran singing the lyrics of early REM. Ha.)

uhuh :) to be fair, i've only had my laptop for a few months, so the results are probably a little skewed, seeing as i haven't really got around to putting lots of stuff on here yet. carla bruni was a surprise. i don't know how that happened X(

Kweli is sick & possibly my favourite rapper. His lyrics&flow and Kanye's production work stunningly well together, despite seeming to have totally different goals as rappers/artists. I have Mos Def's 1st and I love it. Always thought his delivery sounds like classic hardcore rap, almost lazy how deep it sits in a groove. But Def has modern production. I haven't heard Lauryn Hill in a long time; if you think I'd like her stuff, tell me a couple of songs to listen to. New Kanye is a frustrating listen. The arrangements, production are seriously impressive and it's admirable hearing those kind of sounds in Kanye's area of work. But I still think he's a seriously inept rapper, wordsmith and singer. I still listen to it a fuckload though, haha, maybe because his passion/sincerity can sometimes propel it into relatability. I just can't get into the rhymes... Yeah! Hope that wasn't too long... would dig discussing these matters in person/away from concision.

Yeah, I'd have to listen to your stuff several more times before I can offer anything helpful in terms of criticism. 'Going to Prison' and 'The Con Man & the Bullhorn' were particularly intriguing. Do you have my phone number? Do you like The Roots?

Ah yeah, Sam Andrews! Great. Speaking of Augie March, Glenn's solo album, 'Glimjack', was released a couple of months ago and its lyrics are a step up from the Augies. I.e. of other-worldly brilliance & unparallelable for the time being. Don't worry about the CD. I haven't seen you in a while and I have a high-quality rip. I listened to the Sam Sam Andrews page and found at least two tracks extremely impressive and I think I'll download the mp3s soon. You're big on playing the guitar now, right? I'd like to hear you play, sometime.
