Hi. May I ask you a question? I'm a patereon for Charlotte Wessels and I see you also listen to the songs she releases there, but how did you get Last.fm to scrobble them? It won't scrobble mine.

Enjoy it, so far nothing beats this album in my recent charts. Conti is very theatrical but keep in mind his classical training. In the end, you can't go through it all without keeping the habits. If I'm correct, he finished the same conservatory as Luciano Pavarotti :D Arcturus is just... WOAH. Beautifully grotesque and strange. Not sure anyone can record this monster nowadays. You have to be extremely mad.

Oh yeah. PL sounds closer than ever to Draconian Times and then some. It's darker and even more focused. Definitely on my top list of this year. Luca's album is crazy, the music in 1-2 tracks is enough to give you a major case of music overload. Hence it's difficult to comprehend at once. And it's very... Italian this time around which I don't mind. There are some great pieces on it for sure. Did you hear the single? I'd write more about it if wasn't for the new Arcturus.

I like EFMB a lot. TGSOE is hands down their best epic track to date in my books. As a result, even if I delete the rest of the songs (which I won't do since I like almost each), I'd still be left with solid 24 min. and that's more than I can say of many other bands' EPs or even albums. But I dig the rest of the material. Weak Fantasy is amazing, I love its darker atmosphere and lyrical message. The smooth Alpenglow is also addictive and Shudder is a good opener, classical NW. As for the ballad... gosh, Floor nails it. Did you see some videos from the recent concerts? She's working wonders on stage. Stargazers and Sleeping Sun are beyond awesome. Can't wait to see them live. PL is damn good, man! Very doomy, closer to their roots and totally dark. No Hope in SIght will give you an idea of what's to come. And yes, the concert was recorded and will be released as a DVD in near future :)

Naah. It's the best thing I've heard this year (incl. The Gentle Storm). It's just the recent label policy. Nowadays they send the monthly releases at the same time so I got Kamelot, Sirenia and Civil War. Swiped through all, Kamelot is far beyond my expectations so rest easy on this. Sirenia didn't quite click yet save for three tracks but I haven't given it enough time. Civil War is a different matter - it's catchy, very melodic and nicely driven. Something like Sabaton with Dio on vocals (Nils imitates him well enough). So I tried to check out the rest until I get completely lost in Kamelot's new beastie. So far, Civil War successfully keeps my feet on the ground. It's like the pesky chewing gum stuck to the heel of my boot. I know it's there and cant ignore no matter what. ;)

Enslaved is all solid. My colleague brought something up in his review (in BG) to my attention that I haven't thought of, but he's actually right. The last paragraph translates roughly as "the polar taste of MW's team often leads us to fiery quarrels but Enslaved is one of the two bands (along with Behemoth) that unites us". The bastard is correct :D Frosttide is weaker this time. I only got hooked on 2-3 songs whilst the debut had it all. It's not a terrible loss considering the guys are still newcomers but I hope they do better on the next CD. Oh well, we're piled up with new music anyway :D

I've had their album set on repeat for the past three days. it just keeps getting better and better. the story line is utterly sad and bleak. there are many moments that still give me goosebumps such as the ending of When Crows Tick On Windows,Possessed By A Craft Of Witchery and Tragedy Ever After and. I coudln't have wished for a better album. what do you think?

That's the thing, I like Sagan and the alternative version of Élan much more. As for Floor's voice, I can only justify that with the music being completely non-challenging but gradually she shines much more on the actual album, I got a good taste of it recently. Just wait for Yours Is an Empty Hope and the final epic. But I agree, why do you need the best vocalist in the scene when you're not using her full potential, right? :P Try Vertebrae. It's close to the new album but not THAT much. Finsterforst didn't make want to spin it continuously this time. Maybe in near future.

As for Enslaved, I'd say it's closer to the one and only Vertebrae. Raw power and riffs combined with such melodies and proggy approach... It's almost flawless. Guardian is another story. I'm not sure I've ever listened to a more boring album of theirs, actually. Thanks to the PR crusade they started, I expected wonders of grandeur and this is just shameful. Not sure what went wrong, they had the right resources and (supposedly) ideas.

Hey! :) The Gentle Storm is fantastic and (surprise!) it's very different from Arjen's previous projects. I wouldn't even call it metal, even the heavy (Storm) part of the album, which I tend to like a tad more. It's a very ambitious work with a touching story. Anneke annoys me more than she did on Devin's record but heck, what can you do? :D Definitely my top pick of the recent releases. Moonspell was absurdly difficult for me to chew all at once thanks to its attempt to be more melodic, old school 'goth', slightly oriental and generally much lighter but I cracked it after I played it for 8 hours non-stop at the office :D Fernando helped me with the rest. Interviewed him recently and got more clearance on the subjects of interest. CA just arrived and it's bestial :D So far I like it better than the previous. Awesome structures, cleverly used orchestrations and the concept is SICK as expected. Can't believe I'm hearing those lyrics :D

i don't know man; Everytime nightwish use the pipes they sound almost the same. StoryTime was much better and symphonic, if the rest of the album is like the single, then we are looking at a shit storm. about SepticFlesh release; the singing and lyrics made my ears bleed. like in War In Heaven, the same word is repeated over and over again. the guitars sound like they were recorded inside a donkey's asshole. only two maybe three songs were worth listening like Prometheus the rest are just horrible. Titan is no where close to the Great Mass

Carach Angren are freaking awesome. after the disappointing SepticFlesh release i found solace in those guys. I'm fine, same old same old. i applied to a univeristy in Canada and i'm waiting for admission result (fingers crossed). What about you, are you working? i heard today that nightwish single has been leaked, but i haven't found any links yet:(

When - during the Mera Luna fest in Germany this summer. :P They broadcasted a stream, you can watch 4 songs here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBt-tIBrA9E . There were more songs though, which I expect to see on the DVD... some special acoustic versions. And said DVD should be out soon!

Congrats for the job, that's great news! I didn't have the chance to watch the DVD yet, just watched a couple of videos on youtube - Candles and The Last Dance look and sound amazing! Moreover, a DVD of their performance at Mera Luna from this year is going to be released with the next issue of Sonic Seducer and as it was a very special performance I can't wait to watch it. :)

Dark Fortress- Venereal Dawn (a true master piece) , Doom:VS- Earthless and Empyrium - The Turn Of Tides. also every once and a while i give Agalloch's latest release a spin. I'm disappointed by Septic Flesh -Titian; i had higher hopes for it. what about you?

'Just didn't strike me to play it more.. I don't know why' - because it's emotionless, dull and they played it wrong by playing it safe? For me, it's like a poorly executed remake of a movie. You know what's in there and you know what's coming. And while it can be good at times, it's painfully predictable and anything but imaginative. Its biggest fault is that it's a step back after a glorious decadelong march by the band I consider my second favourite melodeath act. Still, one poor album out of six is a good accomplishment. A friend of mine says groups start to rot right after their third *really good* record and I tend to agree. Enjoy Epica, at least they're here to settle the score :) Lindsey's album is a masterpiece and I believe I'll spin the hell out of it. Sheer brilliance and talent at work. I'm glad she kept the dubstep elements and that she's experimenting with her style, there's no limit to what she can come up with when it comes to contemporary crossover.

Hey :) I guess I already told you about Insomnium. Sounds like a mid-level band stuck between past and future points. Lost the spark completely and I'm not sure 3-4 decent tracks will make me reconsider. DiM is fantastic, Epica did a fairly good job this time too. I haven't checked with the new SoP yet though. Exactly because the previous one made my ears bleed. But if you say it's any good, I'd try. Anything for Marcela, I guess :D Oh well, I guess we have our share of disappointments. If Insomnium is so-so, like, 50/50, then Equilibrium should just resign. Quit. Immediately.

Van Canto killed me =_= It's of the rare cases in which I listen to an album of a band that I like and delete shortly after (or prior to) its closing track. Aenaon sounds good! Will hear more of their tracks when I end up with more spare time on my hands. Laura is incredible. Not unlike our Dianne here, haha :D Maybe even more powerful, in fact. I always give this as an example as it's my favourite AF song. She comes out, opens her mouth and it's like a vocal storm sweeping the entire stage along with everyone present. Simone's voice is rather weak in comparison.

Hi ANAS ! Hope you're well! I write because recently launched with my band ETERNUS from Chile, our first album "Labyrinth of Reason". We play symphonic metal, with influences of power metal, etc., and with influences from bands like Nightwish, Sabaton, Epica, etc.. We differ from other bands of the genre, because we have an opera singer man, who gives a special and different sound. Hopefully you can hear us on our official Facebook www.facebook.com/eternusband (Grant us one Like please, u can download free our album). Sample song: "Nemesis of the Gods" - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydKOXy1TlTM ! Thank you very much for reading this, we are just beginning and need maximum support, every aid helps very much. Have a nice day, greetings from Chile.

Hey there! Pardon my late reply, haven't been around here much of late. Hope you're doing well :) Keldian was great actually. Took me a few spins to get into it at first as it is a little heavier, more mid-paced then their previous works; but I like it as much as the first two now. Actually, they would be in my top 5 male fronted power metal groups at the moment. Haven't been following the music scene lately, what's clicking for you these days?
