I just watched BBC's Genesis documentary, which was pretty great. Unfortunately it didn't include Hackett's solo career stuff, even though the movie was marketed as showing all of their solo-works too. Hackett actually told the press he hated the documentary, but I'd still recommend it. Banks was as narcissistic as always, pretty hilarious. By the way, I see "Here Comes the Flood" is your most listened track, which version do you think is the best?

I don't necessarily hate Phil Collin's Genesis, but it's just not my kind of stuff. Abacab is a pretty great album, too. Gabriel definitely has his collection of great pop songs, but most of his albums are focused on progressive rock and art rock, experimental stuff, especially his first four. I haven't listened too much to Collin's Genesis, but you're right about the change being more gradual than I thought. Only their later albums seem to focus strongly on pop. Firth of Fifth is superb! I've only played the first Monkey Island game, and I didn't find it too interesting - I should give the series another try though. [artist]Peter McConnell[/artist]'s music in Grim Fandango is absolutely phenomenal, and I think he worked on some of the Monkey Island games, too. By the way, what do you think of Tim Minchin and how did you find his music? I'm a huge fan of his, I've even got a couple of his CDs and DVDs.

Indeed, Grim Fandango is truly a masterpiece. It has one of the most captivating worlds in all of gaming. I love the story, and the art-style is timeless. The puzzles are quite dated though, so if you get stuck don't hesitate to use a guide. At the moment Mass Effect 2 is becoming one of my favorite games of all time! I see you prefer Peter Gabriel over Phil Collins, just like I. Collins is a fantastic drummer, but I've never really understood why Phil just didn't start his solo-career when Hackett and Gabriel left Genesis. Unfortunately the band is nowadays mostly remembered by the public as that funny pop group with "Invisible Touch" and other hits, even though their golden era was with their progressive masterpieces. Supper's Ready is one of my favorite songs of all time. I've listened to all of Gabriel's solo-albums dozens of times, but at the time I didn't have last.fm yet. I've also seen Gabriel live, but I missed Hackett's gig because it was age restricted. Gabriel is amazing.

Hi Tom, Here is my latest original piece. It is a hybrid sonatina; a mix of blues and classical in 3 movements. The overall title is "Chicago in Vienna". First movement http://www.last.fm/music/David+Tisdell/Piano+Fusions/Chicago+in+Vienna+-+Pinetop+and+Wolfgang Second Movement http://www.last.fm/music/David+Tisdell/Piano+Fusions/Chicago+In+Vienna+-+Muddy+and+Muzio Third Movement http://www.last.fm/music/David+Tisdell/Piano+Fusions/Chicago+In+Viernna+-+Buddy+and+Papa+Haydn Youtube links are enabled on the last.fm pages. I had some issues with the last.fm streaming and download. Hoping to have that fixed soon.

Hi Tom, I just released a new, very short classical track. It is a lullaby by Johann Kirnberger, who was a pupil of J.S. Bach. http://www.last.fm/music/David+Tisdell/Music+For+Piano+Students+Volume+2/Lullaby+By+Johann+Philipp+Kirnberger

Yeah, I agree that overall it's not great. I loved the eponymous track that opened the album, but then it went flat. I think another album with him working from the start of it could have been special though. And yeah, I do like his covers of older Collins and Gabriel tracks.

Indeed, man. I'm no drinker, smoker, drug-taker... so music is my only escape from the misery interspersed with moments of happiness called "life". And hell yeah... I love ALL Genesis. No elitist pin-pointing of a superior era from this guy. Love Gabriel and Collins. I even appreciated Wilson somewhat, and thought he should have been given another album.

"Last chord in the chorus doesn't fit the major key Gaga's singing in, but other than that very nice." It doesn't fit in the conventional sense but it still sounds really good because of an inherent bluesy dissonance that results, tell me if you agree or just don't like that chord at all
