Actually quite good I know only his 1st symphony, but I think the rest might be also fascinating ;). It is much powerful, with choir, baritone and soprano. It also is his longest symphony. Besides - The Lark Ascending - however strange it sounds, it's like an Asian music. Btw, http://www.medici.tv/# is going to broadcast all Beethoven's symphonies this week.

Hey, I'm just after the concert! It was an amazing experience and in my opinion well performed, at least everybody (I guess) were standing. You know what was interesting? They connected the end exactly with the time of death of Karol Wojtyła (Jan Paweł II or how you call it in German, you know I mean pope anyway). They ended whole symphony like ~minute before it and conductor did let the audience clap after this ~minute :P. Which part you like the most? Hmm, the ending is outstanding and I can't say I don't adore it, but besides, the first movement is the best for me, I guess. I only know his 3 symphonies for now (1, 2 and 5, 3 I listened only once) and I'm looking forward to check the rest. Hmm, I don't really like slow forms, but I'm happy to hear the 4th in your opinion is one of the best ;). Great! If there is/you will find something interesting about it, that would be always nice to hear. Btw., did you watch the movie about Mahler's live (1974)? Is it worth to watch?

Hey! I'm probably going to attend tomorrow's concert in Poznań Philharmonic to listen to Mahler 2nd Symphony ( http://www.filharmoniapoznanska.pl/ )... I imagine Simon Rattle is better than Marek Pijarowski, but if they will perform it good enough, that could be a one of the most exciting visit there for me :P. And my God, currently Mahler is my favorite not-living composer, I guess. And still I know good only his 3 symphonies ("good"). In the next month they are going to play his 4th yet in this season. Any opinion about this one?

That must have been awesome :o... I'm even thinking about going to attend on some of Berlin Philharmonie concerts (especially for Yuja Wang), since I have only 2-3 hours to go, but you know, it is a bit expensive (tickets). I have bought already a ticket for Symphonic Odysseys in Cologne, but I'm not sure if I could go. There also will be a festival in Cracow in which my favorite Japanese classical music composer will be performing (that is still a shock for me). I guess you are right... Titan is much easier than other of his symphonies, but I think it is a fun to listen. Its powerfulness... That is what makes it great. Anyway, I think my favorite for now is this Sturmisch Bewegt from 5th symphony I mentioned. Btw., I see you listen to the 4th symphony of Johannes Brahms. It will be performed in Poznań Philharmonic this week and I still didn't listen to it. What is your opinion about this one? I only know his first.

Hey, I still can't believe that I couldn't go at the philharmonic to listen to the 1st symphony of Gustav Mahler, this one is... Indescribable awesome, even though a bit shortly. If any other of his 10 symphonies is better, I don't know what will happen with me (although Sturmisch Bewegt from 5th is one the best composition I ever heard). Fortunately, we celebrate a 100th anniversary of his death and that is why our philharmonic in Poznań organize concerts with his music, there will be his 2nd and 4th yet in this season.

Ah, I see. Then when did you start? To be honest, first I prefer to listen to CD recording, because it has an enough well quality :p. I will listen to this, anyway. Maybe I will recognize this composition? Hmm,actually... That's right, you just have to listen a composition MANY times, so after that you can combine with performers. So in my case, if I start to like some piece very much (or love), then I try various performers.

Yeah, me too. Especially, I don't think it will be ever possible to say who is my favorite composer. Rather I can judge symphonies, concertos and so on. Yes, I guess you are right. Yet about 2nd symphony of Rachmaninoff - is there any specifically interpretation/CD you may recommend? I just LOVE Rachmaninoff piano concerto no. 2 performed by Vladimir Ashkenazy and London Symphony Orchestra. Really, I have tried many versions, but that is still my favorite one.

I've been suspecting that, so I just wanted you to confirm :). Actually... me too. Hmm, like 4-5 months ago. But in my case, now I listen to almost ONLY classical. Did you see/listen/watch Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition then? I have been watching and listening to this all my free time. What an excellent event... In the next 5 years I will be there in person, I must, no matter what (although, after verdicts I'm very disappointed as many other people and... Don't know what to think about Jury anymore. Was everything fair at all?). You play the violin..? So awesome... I want/ed to start, since I found some damaged (it is possible to repair, but probably it costs much), but I don't know if there is any sense at this age. How is your, like, level? It is just a hobby or something serious? Never heard about Bruch before. My favorite one, speaking about violin concertos, is still Tchaikovsky's. I have seen in person Beethoven's one week ago, in a very good performance (Julian Rachlin).

Just asking - do you or you don't scrobble at last.fm everything what you listen to? 2 weeks ago I had an occasion to listen to his 5th Symphony in person. What an amazing experience it was, especially "Sturmisch bewegt" really made me cry. I think I will, especially that some of his other symphonies will be performed in my hometown. Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 is still one of my favorite compositions of all time. Thank you for this recommendation then. I'm still not very much familiar with any composers (Chopin is an exception, but his "discography" is really short and it is only piano). There are so many works which you need to listen many times...

I know, right? It's funny, I actually did the same search as you and stumbled across it and added my two cents into the discussion but no one has continued it so it's probably a dead topic unfortunately.

Haha, oh wow that is funny. I'm in that discussion actually, I'm the last person to post in it. Thanks anyway though =)

i probably saw nihil nocturne in the similar artists pages of one of my favorite german black metal bands: eternity, kapein, vargsang, wolfsschrei, erhabenheit, lunar aurora, etc. Good band, i have the one you talked about on mp3 and will give it further attention. Lately I've been "digesting" more of wolfsschrei, erhabenheit, geist, and amystery though.

Yeah, that sounds about right :) I see you are from Germany - I would like to recommend to you a German band that I have recently discovered, called Fäulnis - their latest album is called Gehirn zwischen Wahn und Sinn. They're simply amazing. I'm trying to find a way to buy their albums and some merch from them, but they don't have a US distributor, and can't accept a PayPal payment. Seuche, the singer of the band, is a great dude, and we're trying to work somthing out. Anyway, check them out, I doubt you'll regret it.

It's also nice to see someone with a healthy number of Bergraven plays on their charts. Have you heard the new album yet? If so what do you think?

Yes, thank you. Your charts are very impressive as well. I take it you like the new Drudkh very much?

FROM SVEST SHOUTBOX: they dont matter since the correct version dont like to the wrong one. but its impossible to scrobble "Veritas Diaboli Manet in Aeternum" as it links to "Veritas Diaboli Manet In Aeter". i dont know why this is but it sucks. sorry for spamming. --- FROM ME: Assuming the problem is with the tags and not last.fm itself (I say this because i see the full title track in SVEST's TOP TRACKS), it is likely because you only have id3v1 tagged and the fields aren't long enough to support notoriously verbose record / song titles. Try adding the full title into the id3v2 tag, or if that doesn't work (or you already had both of them) try using the v2 tag exclusively and deleting the v1 tag; this should correct the problem.

Ah ok.

Was bevorzugst du? Last.fm oder Rate your Music? oder ergänzt sich das?

Ne, das weiß ich auch nicht... // Hab zwar gerade den Link auf deinem Profil entdeckt, kenns aber nicht. Ist toll oder was?
