well don't stop at one carsick cars song.. it's a strong album. listen more then get back to me. chinese rock music in and of itself is dynamic and interesting just for its mere existence and establishment. it's like this opportunity to exist one small step away from the artistry, unlike in the west where all of indiedom is bogged down in existential layers. we talk about bands as tangible reactions from one era to another, or of one type of style or pedal or technology to the next, but there... well, at it's worst it's just reacting to Chinese Normality, but at its best, it's reacting to that AND deeply interesting, significant, but totally imprisoning political and psychological warfare, in a sense. i guess at the end of the day, we want to listen to both the well-studied bradford coxs but also the ian curtis's, too. does that make sense?
