What did ya think of it? P.S. I really don't like the new Mars Volta album. I heard the closing track before it leaked and loved it. Turns out that was the only interesting track on the album.

Oh and all of that album was recorded live, in front of an audience. Fucking flawless. It takes a lot for me to go complete fanboy on record, but I think I found one that justifies that response.

"Oldie" is a great track all around. 10 minutes of gritty beats and fine flows. I was surprised at how much I loved everything Domo did on OF tape 2. He's quickly becoming my favorite OF member. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MOUNT FUJI DOOMJAZZ CORPORATION! I had one of "those" moments while listening to this album. One of those moments when I find exactly what I have been looking for in music. It happened upon my first exposure Death Cab's "Photobooth," LCD's "Someone Great," Talking Heads's "Born Under Punches," and Colin Stetson's "Lord I Just Can't Keep for Crying Sometimes" (w/ vocals from Shara Wooden). It happened about halfway through "Cosmonaut (Rasputina)" where everything collapses on itself and there is just this enormously dark and beautiful and luscious and eerie wall of sound. It gave me the chills and left me shaking. I couldn't do anything but exist inside the sonic space they were creating. I'm about to pay $40 for it on vinyl... worth it. *NEEDS HEADPHONES + HIGH VOLUME*

My mind is currently being blown by Natural Snow Buildings 2006 2.6 hour long The Dance of the Moon and the Sun. It's folk/drone/ambient all bundled up into one mind fuck. It's a hugggeeee time commitment, but I think it's worth it. How bout you, good sir, anything I should czech out?

Yeah, but from what I've heard (just youtube vids, really) Whitehouse is insane power-electronics. Pataphor is minimal noise that develops and sort of morphs over a long period of time. I think Whitehouse is just aggression and Pataphor is nice and discrete. Both, I feel, are really making some cool shit that our parents would hate.

This thing includes live recordings of songs that will be on the upcoming LP, acoustic demos with Michael Gira describing what he wants the song to end up sounding like, and actual studio recordings that will end up on the studio LP. It's absolutely incredible. Ambitious and a very very long listen. Track 1 on disc 1 is 23 minutes and track 1 on disc 2 is 30 minutes. Intense as hell, sometimes even scary.
