Would you be able to recommend me some death metal bands, given that I like hardcore, neo thrash and slam. Perhaps there is a middle ground there. I'm not trolling, I am willing to expand my horizons.

I can definitely hear the difference compared to the modern core. It sounds a lot more melodic and almost like an opera played with guitars. I do enjoy guitar solos and exquisite guitar work as well as relentless chugging of 0s that's the core of the modern core lol. It's hard to explain with words but in my head metal and core do inhabit separate areas. I just feel it , but I'm not musically educated enough to explain it in proper terms.

I don't want to sound silly, but I found some nice music watching Beavis and Butthead back in the 90s. And there was metal in there, but late 1990s and early 2000s was dominated by nu metal and vampiric vibes and that's what defined my preferences for years to come. If I was born a decade earlier, I'd probably be a true metalhead or a punk.

Holy shit I love Everflowing Stream and Nocturnal Silence and Left Hand Path is great too. If they are at that level I gotta check em out, I will listen to Gorement tomorrow. Also thoughts on God Macabre? Checked them out recently, pretty good but I gotta hear their album again.

Nice. Yep they are that good. I was gonna recommend God Macabre, but i saw you already listened to them. The Winterlong is essential as well, sadly quite a short album, but still a classic imo.
