I want to see John Mayer sooooo bad! I've seen The Kooks play at Rock Werchter about 3 weeks ago and indeed, they were amazing live. Probably the highlight of the festival (at least for me haha). From the ones that are on your list I've also seen Ed Sheeran, Snow Patrol, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Temper Trap. Wish it was more though!

Used to work with Senim Silla on Binary Star, definetly need to check out Masters of the Universe by Binary Star if you don't have it. Also, check out S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M. by One Be Lo, good stuff.

oh, i think, 'the always open mouth' is their best album, mainly because of its originality. 'fear before' (their latest self titled album) is also very good, but has a different style which is a mix of post-hardcore and alternative rock with some heavier, hardcore-like elements

you should definitely listen to some Frank Zappa start with the album Apostrophe if you can find it. he is awesomely strange and it is just so delightful =) as for Eels I just recently started to listen to them so I don't know much about them but I am enjoying them so far. check out Holy Fuck, Bassnectar, Blockhead, Digable Planets, DJ Shadow, Dub Trio, and These Arms Are Snakes just to name a few.
