The subgenres get ridiculous. Showtek's older stuff was hardstyle and now they do hard house or something, at least apparently. I can't tell the difference to be honest. It's all EDM though, I usually just say that. I'm into hardstyle on occasions, I have friends into it big time and when they play it it's cool enough. Really catchy, bouncy, loud stuff. Just...dance music, ya know?

I really liked the demo, the sounds fucking ripped. I've been busy with school lately. Plus me and my friend started this shitty noise/grind/hc project last month.

Maybe, there's so many different styles of electronic music (see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_genres ). Do you know any electro-punk bands like Intro5pect and From the Cradle to the Rave? I'm into IDM, which can get pretty weird and gnarly. Aphex Twin is probably the best way to go if you wanted to start getting into that, Autechre too. It's basically very off-kilter beats and rhythms, lots of bleeps and bloops, and can even seem formless at times. Boards of Canada are one of my favorites, they play a kind of similar style, but way more easygoing and chilled out. All their albums are great. Breakcore is pretty extreme, I like to call it the technical death metal of electronic music. Very fast and wild percussion, generally hyperactive. Ruby My Dear is a good breakcore artist to check out, more chilled out once again. There's also Igorrr, who combines breakcore with death metal and classical and jazz, and his other project Whourkr, cybergrind/experimental

One thing that pissed me off and deterred me the last time I tried getting into music production was trying to make a certain style right off the bat. You gotta learn the basics and make lame techno beats just so you know you can. That being said, I'd really like to try my hand at some IDM kinda stuff, but it seems so complicated when you listen to it. Either that or old school sounding acid house. I really like those styles of electronic music, along with psytrance and breakcore, and whatever you wanna call stuff like Gridlock and Access to Arasaka

I think I'm actually gonna settle for a few months this time, I hate travelling when it's really cold. I've been noticing alot of hardcore and beatdown bands are from California too. not a whole lot that I know of. I actually have a pretty nice acoustic ibanez, but it's in storage and I can't get to it, along with a lot of shirts I really dig. Right now I'm trying to get an ID and job and play that game called life for a second *sigh*. I'm also trying to get into making electronic music since I have a computer. So yeah, life's gonna be boring and generic for a little bit, but I'm tired of sleeping outside and eating trash, excuse my non-punkness lol. Because of that I've been living in a trailer with my parents for a while (sounds great huh?) while I get all that other stuff figured out. A while ago I slashed their tires and hitchhiked 6 states over, hated and loved it. Recently made amends because that was foolish and wouldn't work out in the long run.

Absolutely. I wish I knew how to play multiple instruments like piano, violin, harp, and trumpet. I'd much rather create atmospheric tracks than any other genre. I don't listen to atmospheric stuff a whole ton but I feel like I have some good ideas in my head. Yeah California seems to have had a lot of great scenes of all sorts. Yeah, not all the time though. Sometimes I'll be a housey like I am now.

I try. I don't really have much people to play with though. Sucks because there's so many musical ideas I have that I want to life, and I've written like a bajillion songs that are going to waste. At the moment I'm without any instruments.

Slumps happen. I do, but only solo. No one in my hometown shares musical taste with me and I've never gotten close enough to someone while travelling to stick around to make music.
