yours isn't bad either ;) I think Max Lorenz may have been the greatest Heldentenor, it's a pity we don't have better quality recordings of him (same with Melchior)... Windgassen is my personal favourite from later recordings, but Lorenz's voice was clearly more powerful and youthful in his prime

Do you have a musical background? I haven't met that many people that dig the historic classical/operatic recordings.

Yeah, I've just about worn that recording out. I have the older unremastered set on Angel, but recently found an extremely clean (perhaps unplayed) LP set for $1! I also have the Böhm/Nilsson/Windgassen live set on DG. The Furtwängler studio recording will never be matched in my opinion.
