While we're throwing recommendations around, I'd like to ask if you've ever listened to The Ascent of Everest, namely their album From This Vantage? I've been listening to it quite a bit lately and it seems to have snuck up on me to become one of my favorite albums over these last few listens. It's just such a hearty listen, with a really satisfying progression from beginning, middle to end. There's a great blend of guitar and drums paired with cello and violin, but not in such a gimmicky way like I've heard on other albums with similar pairings. Also, I'm not generally huge on vocals, often looking at them more as another instrument rather than actual words, but I even like the lyrics on this album above and beyond their delivery. The only fault I might find would be that the album sometimes gets so dramatic so as to be almost cheesy, but it's honestly executed with such sincerity that I think it's just shy of that. Anyways, sorry to blather on about it, but you might like it too.

Yeah, I get that sense too when I listen to them. I will generally sit or lie down and just listen to goodbye homes in its entirety from time to time. It's my favorite EP. It kind of has this bleak atmosphere that's both bleak and melancholy but hopeful at the same time. I really need to take the time to go back and listen to more of their stuff from before that came out, I've not listened to it very extensively. Have you heard anything from their newest album yet? You may enjoy Toe, if you haven't listened to them before. They're technically post-rock, but they avoid the crescendo-core that a lot of other bands fall into. They've also got some math-rock and jazz influences. Their drummer is also amazing. http://www.last.fm/music/toe?ac=toe The Future Is Now EP is great and may even be a good place to start. You can't really go wrong, wherever you start really, all of their albums are great.
