nevermore mix power metal with thrash metal elements. do you know the first song from dead heart in a dead world? that's fuckin' thrash metal! but wallre dans voice is very emotional, so it's power / thrash metal ;)

You didn't read my post properly, clearly...it's about a RANGE of emotions. There are bands out there actually capable of expressing a whole spectrum of emotions in their music...CC is just anger, anger and more anger.

Also, however much metalheads go on about how vocals don't matter in DM, it doesn't change the fact that the lead 'singer' is talentless. It doesn't take a musical genius to produce the noise he makes. If he actually COULD sing, he would. And even if you can't hear the lyrics, they're too atrocious for words. Wordless screaming would be better than that garbage.

Allow me to elaborate; the ability to play an instrument to a high standard technically does not constitute talent. ANYBODY can succeed that way if they practice hard enough. The difference between a mediocre and talented musician lies in their ablilty to make the music come to life and make it beautiful, and express a spectrum of emotions. CC fails dismally at this.

For what it's worth I agree with you; music is very much a matter of personal taste, and there is no absolute definition of what is 'good' and 'bad'. However, I find it very difficult to find anything good about CC. Their music is crude and rather tasteless, and there's no arguing with that.

I've also always wondered why people consider nevermore power metal. I suppose the vocals are slightly power-ish but not really. I'd say they're thrash/groove/prog.

They're definitely not a power metal band IMO, but the vocals are definitely more power than anything else.

The idea of power metal and Nevermore comes from Warrel's vocals. They are very operatic much like Bruce Dickinsons. Nevermore is a hard band to classify. The fast, heavy, proggy moments mixed with actual singing is unusual for a metal band. Everyone has a different opinion as to what genre Nevermore come under. But, vocals = power metal.
