You really need to check out Zu's Carboniferous, it's very much akin to Shining's BJ.

Honestly the only album I have by them is "The Book of Horizons" which I like quite a bit, and it sticks to the formula you laid out there, Velj, experimental rock, jazzy, some surf rock, exotica, and a very pervasive Middle Eastern vibe throughout. Check them out again, Phil.

Winds have been good tunes for me for a while. I've only recently understood how to use Last.FM, regardless of the fact that I've had my account for a while. J helped me understand how to make it work a few months ago, so it hardly has everything I've been listening to over the years. DFD is pretty cool, I loved their Adultery album. Mr. Bungle is again, an oldie for me. The scrobbles just haven't had their time yet! Mirrorthrone? Same case. As for the rest, they are entirely new to me and I'm excited to check them all out! In light of recent events I've been trying to keep myself busy and not think too much, so I've been indulging in a lot of music. I guess it's better than Alcoholism! I will tell you what I think later on.

Yeah! I agree. It's what attracted me to the band in the first place. I use their songs a lot to practice my vocals. Tell me what you think! I also was never big on birds, I never thought they could make good pets, but after reading up on them and holding quite a few, I was sold. I say "it" because I don't know if it's male or female, Senegal parrots aren't sexually dimorphic, and require a blood test to check their gender. It's only 3 months old and I'm not sure I want needle stuck in my baby. As for other animals, I absolutely love reptiles. Especially snakes, and especially ball pythons. Do you have any pictures of them? I would LOVE to see. ( I am a huge, obsessive animal lover who stops people in the street to pet their animals, I know, it's mean.)

As for rec's, I can give you tons. Nothing consistent, of course, just a few gems I've been indulging in lately, which you might be taken to. If you like ambient, dreamy music I've been listening a lot to Sundrips, whom as opposed to most ambient take it to a lighter, sunnier side. I can't find any of their tracks on youtube, but you won't be disappointed if you check out their album Just A Glimpse. I also see that you've got some Head Control System scrobbles, but they definitely require a higher number. :P

My taste in music is very inconsistent and erratic. I'm up for any and all recommendations if they're good tunes, really! Not craving anything in specific right now, perhaps more melodic and softer sounds than some really brutal metal. Miasma I stole from JBThazard, saw him listening and decided to play copycat. I am blown away, they are AMAZING. As for the other two, they need more listens, as layered music usually requires. Fleet Foxes I already know (and love), but I have not heard Ahab's newest yet. The movie was brilliant, and it seems to be yet another unique comic in the recurring theme I find intriguing, the grit, the dark, and the sexual. Either way, above both Sin City and V, I hold Watchmen, too. By the way, where in the states are you from? Last doesn't say. I've never had a taste for Van Gogh, for some reason his art and technique don't really speak to me, but I wish I could visit the Guggenheim! The image you showed me looks breathtaking. Do you know the name of the photographer? It's a hobby of mine and I like to collect favorites. As for Sin City, I've indulged in the comics as well as the movie. Both are great. Before I continue, I should first say that my views on movies based on GN's are different than most. I find them to be a tribute, a sort of "fan art" one would say, instead of an actual different medium trying to convey the actual story. This is why, unless the movie is extremely horrid, I don't usually have a problem with them. They're just there to give us fragments of a picture of what it could be like, in a certain visual aspect conjured by the people creating the film. I don't believe I've ever read V for Vendetta, however I have been planning to for a very long time! --->

Continuing my ramblings about comics, the dark tragedy found in Watchmen is what also drew me to my own obsession of Harley Quinn and her dysfunctional relationship with her lover/tormenter. Also connecting to Sin City. All hail gritty atmospheres!

As for Watchmen, it's one of the very few comics that have managed to move me in the deepest levels. Nite Owl is a fond character of mine, but I find myself drawn to Dr. Manhattan, his situation and the outlook he has on everything. He is otherwordly, and his mentality is one that we can only hope (and fail) to grasp. "I am looking at the stars. They are so far away, and their light takes so long to reach us. All we ever see of stars is their old photographs." His transcendence of time, space, humanity and the physics we know is something that constantly feeds the curiosity in me of things greater than my own reality. I believe it'll always remain a favorite of mine. On a lighter note, I too, revere nature. I believe it's more divine than any higher entity one might believe in. My spirituality is vaguer than pantheism, or agnosticism. Beksinski brings beautiful use of gruesome imagery, and twists them in a way that makes them hopelessly beautiful.

I'm so sorry! I totally missed your shouts, regardless of the fact that you left three. I don't mind, you can spam my wall with whatever you'd like! The things you say are sensible and intelligent. Pui Mun is a huge inspiration to me, as I am studying illustration and I would love to create dreamscapes in the way she does. Asian mythology also means a lot to me, and she depicts a lot of those myths into her work. Whelan is nice in his technique, but other than his eye candy, he doesn't leave much for the imagination. I myself am a Tolkien fanatic (you should see the shrine I have for him, it's borderline creepy) and as a person that would understand the importance of the following: I'm getting a sleeve done in tribute to two things that mean a lot to me: space and Tolkien. As a Howe fan, I thought it couldn't hurt to ask him for a commission. He's agreed to draw something for me (which I specifically asked for, in the style I asked for) for absolutely nothing! I am so excited!
