You spelt definitely right, that's the only word that I can't stand being spelt wrong and it happens all the time funnily enough, or maybe I just notice it more than most would. My teacher at primary school seemed to think it was the most important thing in the world that we spelt definitely right... Nope I didn't catch The Slits either! But yeah, it is sad news.. Yeah, it is difficult. Singing's the sort of thing I only really do absent mindedly when nobody's around. Nah, the guy is my boyfriend but he said he wouldn't mind playing guitar for us if we needed him too which might be useful. Yeah a flat in town would be fantastic, it'd probably drastically improve my uni attendance too cos it's a couple of hours for me to get from here to the west end and I just can't ever be bothered - it's been four or five weeks since I was last there I think. Yeah I have facebook can't work out what the url is but if you search Sarah-Jane Cochrane you'll likely get me, there can't be very many of us!

Yeah, I remember when I used to buy NME religiously and then I realised that it just wasn't worth the hassle. The Strokes are deserving, that's true. I like the Yuck album, probably wouldn't go as far as to say I was blown away, guess it was always gonna be well received though. I had to lie to these guys to be polite cos I've made no effort to really talk to them since school. I sent them some songs to listen to and they avoided passing judgement on Pavement and The Slits so I'm guessing the weren't keen, on the plus side, they did like The Cribs. I play bass, sang aloud in company for the first time today in fact, there's a recording of me and the boy covering the coral here if you're interested: http://soundcloud.com/sarahcreateddisco/scott-sarah-dreaming-of-you/s-LA8sm unfortunately there's no harmonising on the vocal front! I'm sure my friend lived in Erskine for a while when we were younger.. I wouldn't worry about not knowing where Newton Mearns is, it's just small and suburb-y

It is a shame, but it has to be said that there are enough undeserving bands that the NME throw praise at which somewhat justifies people's scepticism, even if it is misplaced with The Cribs. The internet is a bit of a godsend when it comes to talking to people, also fairly useful in terms of meeting/talking to like-minded folk. It's probably a bit unfair that I dislike people being unaccommodating of my music tastes, when I'm often a bit that way inclined too aha. I'm trying to start a band with a few friends, but I wasn't sure what music they were into these days and I really wish I hadn't asked now - I was quite horrified at how dreadful it was! I got a friend of mine off the death metal, now he's obsessed with Sonic Youth and Los Campesinos! I actually know where Erskine is, which is a big thing for me cos I'm kinda useless with places aha.. I didn't know they were playing, but yes definitely! Only seen them play once before so will be good to see them again. Take it you are going?

The Cribs are really great, probably the band I've seen live the most times and also the first band that I was ever unhealthily obsessed with. Their newest album definitely isn't my favourite either and I've been informed that all my preferred tracks are ones that sound more like previous stuff. Oh wow, it must feel a bit weird to hear her talk about him. But yeah, that would feel good! I can't blame you, I'm rather shy meeting people I actually know never mind people that I like.. admire. I really like meeting people with similar music tastes, school was always awful for that, everyone passed anything I listened to off as 'weird' before listening. Her name's Fiona, it'd be strange if it were to be her! I'm from Newton Mearns, where abouts is it your from?

Gary Jarman as in The Cribs' Gary Jarman? - me and my friend used to be pretty in love with him I have to admit aha. I didn't know he was married to Quasi's bass player. It'd be cool to meet Stephen Malkmus, shame you didn't get to talk much - think I'd be a bit starstruck in that scenario. I met No Age in 2008 and that was really cool, it was before their gig and I was listening to Nouns and they walked past which was pretty surreal! Other than that the only really notable person is Kylie ha. I'd love to see Vivian Girls, that ex thing doesn't sound so wonderful but it's good that you enjoyed the gig despite it, would have been rubbish if it had ruined things. My ex used to come to gigs with me but he was really into like screamo and death metal-y stuff so didn't really enjoy them much, but it was kind of him nonetheless and I've gotten my boyfriend into No Age, Vivian Girls etc. too and also just met a girl with pretty awesome music tastes so things are looking up for gig companions!

As disappointing as The Vaccines were, they are better than almost anything you're likely to hear in the charts which has to be something/give them some credibility.. And at least they were nice guys, cos with all the hype they could have probably been pretty arrogant about things. I find that with gigs too, summer is always bad for gigs cos bands are playing the festivals. I think The Babies gig will be good, so disappointed that I didn't make it to the Vivian Girls gig a while ago - it used to be a bit of a challenge finding folk to go with let alone anything else. And unfortunately I didn't see Quasi either, I didn't know they were playing! Next time, I'll make sure I see them. Were they good live? Nor did I see Pavement, I only got into them pretty recently so it wouldn't have meant anything to me back then, but I would really love to see them play. oh, I saw you have 1,750 artists in total - that's huge!

That's cool. I wasn't sold on The Vaccines if I'm honest.. as in they were alright but not great or anything, slightly disappointed perhaps (maybe just not my thing, who knows) - what did you make of them? Yeah, that show will be good I think, quite like having a few gigs that I know I'm gonna be going to and Paws are a good band. It'll be cool to see you guys play too cos I don't think we caught much of your set at The Vaccines gig. I don't think I've heard of French Wives before, what're they like?

Cool, thanks for the link, I just finished downloading it. Nice, it sounds like a protest song or something, but the rhythm is kinda happy, I don't know. Yeah Os Mutantes were probably the best and most important brazilian band from the 60's, and they had a very psychedelic sound. There was a whole movement going on back then and good bands and artists emerged, I should probably know more than I do...I also like this band - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BliqScxpNRs - my dad tells me they were the only band he ever saw playing live, besides the Stooges, which I convinced him to take me in 2005... Yeah I got a FB account a while ago, mostly use it to share music videos that my friends never watch haha, feel free to add me if you want to - http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100001604276640

Oh nice! Do you know if there's an album by Damon I could download? Since we're on this topic, this is brazilian psychedelic rock from the late 60's - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2EKghlmIyQ That's a nice PJ Harvey song, I haven't heard the record though. Actually, I first listened to "Dry" last week because of a song I heard in a movie, it's really good (the record I mean, and the movie too). Yeah I just fell in love with Chrissy Zebby Tembo, and I love the way he sings and that accent haha...There's another band too, called Amanaz, but I haven't downloaded anything by them yet.

Hey, "Something Someone Jr" is one of my favorite songs by the Growlers, have you heard it yet? Oh I watched that video of you playing "Raining", that's a nice version, I like the keyboard. Wow these last few days I discovered some crazy psychedelic zambian bands from the 70's, I saw one of them in the Black Lips' FB wall haha. Anyway, I downloaded this album, it's amazing (and weird) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94Hw2kZmzN0

Hey, yeah! Saw you're name on a few event pages and thought I'd click on your profile. I'll assume you're in Male Pattern Band? I think that means I saw you support someone at Captains Rest (the Vaccines, maybe?), and you'll be supporting Paws there too?!

Yeah that song is from their last album, "Popular Songs". Times New Viking even have a song called "Times New Viking Vs Yo La Tengo" (YLT have a song called "Georgia Vs Yo La Tengo") Yes, I love "Meet Me in the City"!! And yes, they do sound a lot like the Pixies! Have you heard The Growlers?

Hi! I'm fine, been resting and getting ready for the new semester... That's really cool, I saw an interview on pitchfork I think, they seem like nice people. Geez, I don't know if you can download their albums somewhere, it seems their only fans are friends and family. I actually have the 2 cds they released because I bought them in a local store (plus 2 copies of their second release that the singer gave me, maybe I could ask him to upload it to mediafire or something...) They have a myspace anyway, you can listen to other songs there ("Borges Proust Maupasant" is one of my favorite) - http://www.myspace.com/thejohncandymusic - Glad you like them!

Yeah, we haven't played anything together yet, but even if everything goes wrong I'll try to have at least one new song recorded before 2011! Haha you scared me a bit with that line in portuguese! Maybe I could give you some lessons, who knows. Have you heard this band Reading Rainbow?

Hey, sorry it took me so long to reply, so many things happened this week! wow, I can't believe you liked those songs, thanks! I'm home now and I've been writing some new stuff, a friend of mine is coming today, we might record some songs. Oh, I have some songs in english too, I'll upload them. I like your EP, I probably wouldn't guess it had been recorded in your bedroom, the quality is really good. And I also love the cover art! I have this song I recorded when I had a band back in 2006 when we were all 14. Again, it was recorded in my bedroom and we could barely play anything, but it was fun. Here you go - http://tramavirtual.uol.com.br/musica/tocar/173966/ - it's a song about...well, a gigolo who wants to play an agogo. Sorry to hear about the Ty Segall show, I can't imagine what it's like to be unable to go out because of snow, it's so warm in here right now.

Oh ok...I have some songs here - http://tramavirtual.uol.com.br/compcinzentos - they were recorded two years ago in my bedroom and the quality's not good, so...I completely understand if you think they suck! Now that I'm on vacation and I'll go back home, I'm hoping I can record more things and with better quality. By the way, the website is all in portuguese, but I think you can find the songs. There are three songs and they have a small play button next to their names (first one is called "a fuga" if you can't find it). I mostly use mediafire to download music, but that website seems great, I'd appreciate it! Oh yeah, I've heard Ty Segall, I really like "The Drag". I don't like him as much as Thee Oh Sees, but from what I've seen on youtube his show should be fun. How was it by the way?

Yeah Trama has a website where any band can have a webpage and post their songs, even I have some songs there! It's cool because even the more famous indie bands enable some of their songs for download. Yeah I really like that song, the lyrics are kinda poetical and for some reason I love the way that drummer plays...So, how's it going? Are you almost on vacation?

Hey, I really like "Despot Blues" by V-Twin, great song! Yeah, well, it's almost summer here, so it's really warm (it's a bit rainy today though). There's usually not a lot of difference between summer and winter...Anyway, nice website! wow, cassette tape, haven't heard of those in a while...I like that song by The Vaccines, I guess you've already played the show with them, how was it? Oh, have you seen this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsTJmymNJ4g - it's just so hard to find Thee Oh Sees videos with such great quality!

Subjects are getting more difficult I guess, but things are fine. Yeah, I love the vocals on "Youth", the whole record is pretty much like that, I really like it. I just had to share with someone. That's so cool, are there any videos of them on youtube ? (I don't have Spotify) That reminds me, I have to download the other EP again, I had saved it in my mom's computer...

Oh, "I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One" is probably my favorite, and I also have it on vinyl, it's just amazing! yeah, it's "My Little Corner Of The World" actually lol. hmm, maybe you should try listening to "Painful", it's another great album. have you ever seen any movie by Hal Hartley? he directed an alternative version for the "from a motel 6" video, this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apTwaiAyyPI . and oh, I had never heard Television Personalities, they seem good!

you seem kind of close to the band, that's pretty cool. do you know what the video is gonna be like already? cool, you tell me when I can download the new EP, I sure wanna hear it! hmm what do you wanna know? oh by the way, I have to say this. I'm still in state of shock. today, about 4 hours ago, I found out yo la tengo is coming to brazil. ok, I also love pixies and I also love pavement and I already knew they were coming too, but now with YLT I know I can't miss it. (they're gonna play in a festival) and also YLT and pixies are going to play on the same day....and the worst thing is I'm not sure I can go, it's in a city I've never been to and none of my friends like these bands...

I can't listen to their songs on myspace, I did watch a video on youtube though, they seem pretty good, kinda blues-like. how did you manage to book them? by the way, the drummer who played in "thee hounds of foggy notion", his name is patrick mullins i think, the current one is mike shoun (according to wikipedia). in the end of this video, john refers to him as patrick, so I guess it's right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHzdmBvMEh0

that's Trama, they often have independent bands play there and sometimes you can watch them playing live on their online TV. well, i knew i wanted engineering 'cause i wanted to keep on studying maths, then i had a chemistry teacher who had graduated in chemical engineering and sometimes he would talk about it, i started getting really interested. it's funny, i also have a lot of interest in art, i guess it gives me some balance. anyways, why do you say it's so hard to get a "proper" job over there?
