Yowch, I feel for you. Birmingham isn't somewhere I've even been (well, aside form passing through it on the train) and I don't think I will ever go. It has the word 'ming' in it. I may be horribly prejudiced when I say that... what attracts you to Australia? And what part? I dunno, it didn't work for me. Some things were nice but others just didn't happen. Hmm. You should write, even just something. For yourself. It's a good habit to get into...

I'm a bit similar, I used to write all the time... I never got a full time job after graduating, as the only stuff I could get was the old 'bits and pieces' type thing... but when I lived in Aus I was out every weekend reviewing shows, doing interviews, even had a regional editorial stint (paid barely anything though) for a couple of years... but yeah, it sucked all the fun out of it. 18 months in England and I decided I missed it, hence the stuff I've been putting on tumblr. Maybe you could set yourself a similar task (100 bands in a year is ambitious for me, but maybe say write about an album a week or something). Where are you now, do you get a lot of gigs there?

Sweet! Another writer! People say anyone can write and... I guess that's true to a degree, a bit like anyone can pick up a guitar and play - but not like Jimi Hendrix. I think you can spot the difference if you've got a proper background in the area. So, yeah, kudos to you, new friend! I picked the Cardiff/Wales thing due to the Spiller's shirt you're wearing in one of the pics on tumblr... you still in Cardiff or is work gonna uproot you now you've finished your course? What kind of writing do you generally do? Do you write about music at all or do you keep business and pleasure separate?

So are you suggesting we do not have super compatibility? I am shocked! You should write more often... that was my resolution for this year. I spent five years at uni to qualify as a journalist (if it's possible to qualify...) and then I end up working for an insurance company. So zero creative output. That's all changing though! I was trying to work out from your posts where you're from (not that I'm a stalker or anything but I have a habit of trying to put everyone and everything in context, and location is usually at/near the top of the list) and figured Wales somewhere. AM I right?

Yeah had it for a little while, I'm reviewing it for Ian's (Hsieh) website, Brainer. I quite like it. The lyrics especially, they're all about the break up of an 11 year relationship - "This apparment smells like divorce"...that kinda thing. Jolly! x

Yeah, much like my snail like viewing of quality US television. I haven't seen this Screaming Masterpiece which you speak of, but I googled it and it looks RAD. Will put it on my list. Do you not just have this hooked up to yr Itunes? I would never bother with this site if it wasn't updated automatically.

Yeah, I never use it for anything other than looking at all the baffling charts. Have you seen the Lars Von Trier film with Bjork, Dancer in the Dark? It's beautiful.
