Are you going to the Courtney Barnett gig this Sunday at the Rescue Rooms? Was gutted her gig in Bristol had sold out by the time I went to get my tickets.

I can't think if they played any different songs but there was a different order. I was up in the balcony on Friday and standing near the front on Saturday - the sound was more impressive on Friday so I don't know if that was to do with the venue acoustics or the sound on the night. Both gigs were excellent though. I was bored of Hookworms more than Deaf Center - I felt quite relaxed sat there while they were on! I was surprised because they sounded boring when I listened to them before the gig, and I thought Hookworms would be pretty good.

I've decided against The War on Drugs for now so you'll have to let me know what you think. I wasn't a big fan of their first album and the new one has some good stuff on it, but not enough. I thought that about Temples earlier this year though and then wished I'd seen them sooner than last weekend...

There's a bit of correlation with our upcoming events. I haven't decided on The War On Drugs yet - have you seen them before? Do you post on the BSP forum?

All recovered from Glastonbury I hope. Yeah I'm getting older it takes me best part of a week to recover lol. Hopefully you had as good a time as I did! If anything I saw less bands than ever before this year, probably because I spent too much time chilling out in the sunshine and couldn't be bothered charging from stage to stage. Saw very few acts on the big stages but Flaming Lips were far and away my favourite, an hour of perfect entertainment. Thom Yorke was great at the Park, we got tipped off so got a superb view, and the crowd reaction to Karma Police was something else. Other highlights, Midlake, I am Kloot, Villagers, Beach House all good. (I spent a lot of time at the park)....

I had a great Glasty! I thought The Flaming Lips were just incredible; Wayne Coyne - what a hero! I also really enjoyed Field Music, Archie Bronson Outfit, The Joy Formidable, Frightened Rabbit, Meursalt and um Snoop Dogg, if just for the comedy stage chat! Lowlights were not being able to see a bloomin' thing at Thom Yorke, being too exhausted to party after Stevie Wonder because of running round to a ridiculously tight schedule and 2nd degree sunburn! Ouch.

Yayyyy. Though it took me from 8.58am to 10.00am to get one, and appartently they sold out in just over an hour! Close shave! At one point I had 80 windows open with my pc + laptop combined...yep BSP would be perfection, although I'm not complaining at Broken Social Scene, The National and Field Music!

Scottish date clashes with the fannies in Scabberdeen :( Bitter! That Archie Bronson Outfit record is a bit good though ay? My favourite of the year so far!

Yeah Sea Power were good, they started off really well with a muscular Scottish Wildlife but then they never really hit their stride after that...although Phil was absent, so no new songs, and the set was only an hour. Grrr I'm not going hear the new stuff until the album, thats the first time thats happened! Oh and Jeff Lewis was Ursine Ultra, only he couldn't move so he just sat and pawed the air, then when they tried to take him out he got stuck! Poor thing!

Um yeah so Take a Worm for a Walk Week weren't really my cup of tea...I thought they sounded a little bit like 80s matchbox in places but the rest wasn't that great. I enjoyed the Twilight Sad but thought they sounded a little too much like they do on record, which I'm only complaining about because my favourite bit about seeing a band live is how they translate from that medium onto stage. Kind of wished they'd gone all out and had a bit of a feedback freak-out. Glad y'enjoyed it though!

Haha, I gather most people didn't like the support then. Oh well. I thought the sound was fantastic when Twilight started, although I wouldn't have complained if they played even louder.

Please! The Twilight Sad have been here so many times, but I keep missing them for some reason or other. Have a feeling they're going to be a bit noisy and distortion laden, which can only be a good thing...urgh no I don't have a Glastonbury ticket, around the time the tickets went on sale I quit my job and got another one, but they fluffed my bank details so I had no income for about 2 months! I am HOPING and PRAYING I can get one in the second batch, cause my friends are going and I don't fancy scaling fences and/or outrunning rabid hounds hehe.

Make sure you get the paperback - with the high turnover of members it has more 'fallen' than the hardback. Mind you, I think even the paperback is out of date now. This one is going to need a new edition every 6 months.

Have you read The Fallen by Dave Simpson? If not it is highly recommended. The author tries to track down every ex-member of The Fall to find out what it was like being in The Fall with Mark E Smith. Very funny but also very interesting.

I am not liking the new Editors album. What is it with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Editors dropping the guitars on their latest albums?

We ended up camping next to the dance tents, it was actually not too bad a spot and not as noisy as I thought it would be. Er yeah, I don't normally wear flowers on my head, might get some strange looks if y'know what I mean!

I watched Golden Silvers in the Queens Head on thursday and they went down really well, although anyone goes down well on a Glastonbury Thursday! Seriously though I did enjoy the gig, it was a nice slice of cheery retro pop with plenty of feel good factor.I don't think I'll be listening to them a year from now, but they are probably worth a look at latitude. Then again, as i am sure you well know, schedules at festivals are made to be adandoned....

Ah so I didn't miss too much then, thats good. BSP turned to be the only band I went alone for, but it was ok cause it meant I could explore lovely Avalon a bit and catch a bit of Orkestra Del Sol too, who were awesome and Scottish too! My friends are a bit sick of BSP to be honest, plus they don't understand how I can have see them so many times, plus watch them at Glastonbury then in Inverness a month later! Some people ay...oh and I randomly spotted Alex White wandering around somewhere near our tent, I thought that was quite an appropriate celebrity spot for me hehe.

Yep I had a fantastic time as usual, maybe even better this time as we had a great such a crowd of people with us. I am feeling a bit flat to be back at work and missing the whole thing already, but you need 12 months of reality to enjoy Glasto in between i think! Anyway, highlights off the top of my head were Nick Cave, Bon Iver at the park, Florence and the machine, Passion Pit, and many more, plus of course BSP at Avalon, despite the many times I've seen them they still give me that buzz... oh and the many wanderings, till the early hours around shangri la and trash city. All i need now is about a months sleep!

Yeah I really enjoyed Blur too, the atmosphere was incredible and I'm also not that big of a fan! Its got me listening to them too though! Enjoyed Nick Cave though I think I may have missed a bit of a big chunk of his set, walked in at the end of what sounded like Deanna? Other highlights were Lily Allen, Franz Ferdinand and Florence and the Machine, and the lowlights were Yeah Yeah Yeahs (I missed Tom Jones for them!) and Lady Gaga (just utter utter shite).

Was just looking at your photos on flickr and I can sorta see myself in one of the BSP ones (well the back of my head at least)! In the one where you can see the whole stage at the front between Yan and Noble theres a short girl with reddish hair and I'm pretty sure thats me, haha. Weren't they great? Really solid setlist, Apologies and St. Louis are perfect together. That was the best weekend of my life, can't wait for next year!

I think so, having said that I'm sure I've forgotten something really obvious. I'm having such a hard time deciding who to see because there are so many clashes (and also getting my friends to ditch the ting tings for bsp). Have just realised Latititude clashes with graduation at work. We might just come up for the Sunday to catch Nick Cave and Magazine. Getting increasingly annoyed at missing Glastonbury this year!

Yeah I've been having a good mooch through the list on the Gorge site. So far I am up for BSP and looking out for Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver... maybe Bat for Lashes, but I have no idea what she would be like live. There is even a rumour Sonic Youth are keen to play.. WOOT!! Other than that Animal collective, as you say, has to worth a look. The Bunnymen are allegedly going to do all of Ocean Rain, so I may have to check that for old times sake.

What do you think of the Glasto line up this year? I have a hell of a lot of bands myspace sites to check up before June, to see if there are some gems in amongst them. If you come up with any recommendations give me a nudge will you. Pleased to see BSP are rumoured to be playing the Avalon stage, perfect small stage for them to perform on I think. Cheers

You should definitely see the voluntary butler scheme, he's a really interesting performer, recording different instrumental and vocal loops as her goes so at the end he has a really lush sounding band sound. I liked alot! Brakes were a bit off, but it could have been because everytime I've seen them thus far they've been phenomenal and I'm just spoilt. Having said that, they played no return, my favourite song of theirs that I've never seen live so that more than made up for it! Be sure to tell me how your gig goes :) Also, British Sea Power are playing Glastonbury! Yeeha!

They were superb - a really good band and Amadou is a bit of a guitar hero when he gets going. Even I was dancing through the entire gig. Absolutely appalling support though - a 6th form version of prog/world/jazz with really annoying synthesisers competing with the (to be fair, quite good) bass player.

I have and I've got to say, it is growing on me.

That review didn't help!! I have seen some clips on YouTube and the band sounded brilliant. Oh well! I have been on Spotify for a couple of weeks. Pretty good but they dont have about 30% of the stuff I have searched for. Handy to check out albums to see if they are worth buying.

Sounds like Julian was having one of his off days! Would love to see Grinderman so hope they tour their forthcoming album. We saw Nick and the Bad Seeds a month or so ago and there were fantastic. Might be going to the Levellers 20 year concert. Should be good for a spot of reminiscing. I've got their gig at Glastonbury from 2002 (were you there?) and it still sounds excellent.
