Did this failure have anything to do with multivariate data analysis or some other form of sleep inducing statistical methodology by any chance? Because I'd completely understand if it did. That's about the only thing that would keep me awake at night in perpetual horror. I'll have to export some wine to you, might soften the blow (and probably more of your grades). :P

Yep, I have got several backup plans. I won't name them all but they involve schools in France, Holland and possibly Engerland. Hopefully I won't have to worry about them! If all else fails, I will probably end up in Yurp and work my way into somewhere. How is Wroclav or Krakow (or wherever you are) this time of year?

You've got to be careful of those mulled wine vapours, they have bad intentions. There is nothing wrong with recycling topics, I've been doing that since 2008 and I've yet to fail. Although I am (in)famous for adapting papers to suit my areas of interest, much to the chagrin of certain lecturers... who curiously appear to be the ones absent from my referee list :P Soon Yurop, soon.

In fact, you've already handed it in (several weeks early), thoroughly edited and cross-checked by other students :P Also, mulled wine doesn't really work here over the festive period because nobody wants to drink warm, spiced wine when it's 30 degrees. Otherwise, greetings from 20-13.

I have an intense disliking for anything contrived and/or kitsch, it's something psychologically buried inside my mind. Therefore, Christmas and I don't really mix well. On the other hand, it's all made more acceptable with good Scotch. Any new year resolutions? Procrastinate less, perhaps :P

Well, I have sent one application off, but the others I'm still waiting for academics (for shame) to get back to me. There's not much chance of progress until the new year. It's all right though, deadlines are still ages away. Anyway, the Mayans said the apocalypse is coming soon, so who cares right? Merry Christmas (if you celebrate such rituals :P)!

Aye, they're slow. New Zealand still seems to live on Island time, when everything gets done when it gets done and there's always time for another break. So, in that sense, this entire country is like a big university, without the class (literally and figuratively). Alas, a little dose of continental efficiency wouldn't hurt. You can keep the winters though :P

Now it's my turn to take aeons to reply. Of course my lovely German friends can speak basic English, but they think I can't understand German at all because I'm a simple Kiwi of simple means. Little do they know I can, in rudimentary Deutsch, hear them degrading our beloved local produce. My lecturers are being tardy, and the faculty of my former school even more; threats of physical violence might be needed if they don't sort themselves out (I've left passive aggressive messages on several faculty answer phones). I wish I was as accomplished at procrastination as you. I might actually relax for a change.

I'll forget your philistinism on account of the fact that you like Gewürztraminer, which happens to be about the only white wine I enjoy. Hawkes Bay has produced some lovely Gewürz, although as all the Germans who come into the store keep telling me that es ist nicht wie Deutsche Gewürtz! I have one lecturer on side, but I'm having trouble with the second. He's hard to contact, so I'll just have to track him down. Otherwise everything is on track. How is the course going? I take it you're into some heady research by now.

Good so far. Surviving our typical autumn chilliness. :-P At least there's enough work to keep me warm. I heard Poland was hit by power cuts during the first snowy days. I suppose Warsaw didn't suffer from those, right?

Even though you don't like Thinking Plague...have you ever tried out 5uu's? They're similar in some ways, but in others...they're less similar. :P Dave Kerman on drums/percussion, Bob Drake on bass/vocals (on the album I have)...Sanjay Kumar on keyboards. 2/3 of them (Dave and Sanjay) are in U Totem.

Good to know. Have you tried The Flaming Lips, by chance? They're poppy a lot of the time, but psychedelic poppy. I quite enjoy a few of their albums.

Pity, I'm not an EU citizen then (although I might qualify for an English passport). Don't fret though, I will be in Europe at some point in the future, just depends on where and doing what.

I'm seriously considering doing a MA in International Politics or a related sub-field at ANU in Canberra in Australia. Europe is a bit too far away/expensive for me, plus ANU has a pretty good research based reputation.

It's pretty questionable, haha. I think I'm alive, I can still function and post and such, plus I was at a friend's place tonight. No dead person could claim the same (even if they WERE somehow at their friend's place...they couldn't report it, as they'd be dead!), so therefore I MUST be alive! How've you been? Alive as well?
