My friend mentioned that the Animal Collective show was rather short. I've not been to much lately, apart from Handsome Furs in Santa Fe which was really good. It's was in Corazon which is a new bar place. Generally a better crowd than Albuquerque too. The only show I have on the horizon is Los Campesinos at the Launchpad in August.

I'm not going to the Animal Collective show. I would if i had more money but we're barely able to scrape the rent this month and I have a load of foreign visitors coming this summer and don't want to disappoint them by being broke! The Ghost show at LP was pretty cool in places. And Neko Case was good. I've only ever heard a few songs but i enjoyed it and on tp of that, John and Joey from Calexico in support were awesome! I'll go to the Mika Miko show at Cirq Gallery on the 3rd. That should be pretty cool. You been up to much?

Yeah some friends of mine did the same thing...it's a good job I didn't rush back from Denver to try and make their set! I'll give that Horrors album a spin. I don't really think I've heard much of them but for some reason I think i dislike them. It's probably some irrational association with someone. The same thing made me avoid Wilco for years.

I had tickets for the Conor show. It wasn't bad, kinda boring though, the Mystic Valley band stuff appeals to me more than his Bright Eyes stuff. But it sounds like a poor Wilco or Calexico! And the place was teeming with little teeny boppers who think he is hot. I'm just about to go see how big the queue is for Moz. I want to get a good place but there's no way I'm waiting for hours outside. I heard an interesting band the other day called 'Warpaint'. It's some girls from LA, the singer sounds kinda like Hope Sandoval and Cat Power but the music is more like Low or something. And my wife told me about Joker's Daughter. She is from the UK, produced by Dangermouse, and what I heard on myspace sounded really cool.

Hey. I'm good, kinda been sick the past week and have made it worse by going out all the time. I haven't really heard anything new I've been into. I downloaded a shitload of stuff last week but haven't good round to listening to anything yet. Most of my recent listening has been the ipod on shuffle in the car. The wife and I have a sad little game where we try and guess what is playing! Apparently Calexico are playing that free thing in Johnson Field at the end of the month. I saw Girl Talk do it last year. It's on the 26th I believe but I'm at MBV the night before so may have to miss it which sucks. It'll be the first time out of NM in nearly a year and happens to be the one night one of my favourite bands plays a free show! Morrissey next week yay!

I know! shitty! I would totally go see Amanda Palmer, but it's one of my bff's b-days and Conor is one of her faves... so that's what I shall go to. The things we do... ;)

No shows this weekend, but I'm off to some party to see North America tonight and there's some DIY show on tomorrow with Mika Miko. My friend organised that one. You should come, it's apparently in some old office block behind Hastings on Lomas and San Pedro! MBV should be awesome, i nearly couldn't go but it's all sorted now. I'm scared of going deaf though!

Yeah email wouldn't log on on my phone so I couldn't get your number from it! Oops. It was fun though! We got stuck behind a guy who randomly stamped on the floor and the 6'5" guy who stood on both my wife's and my friend's feet. We went there again last night to see a few bands and No Age were there hanging out. I can't help but think of Ian Curtis when I look at the drummer/singer guy though. There's a band at Burt's tomorrow night called the Prids who should be good if their influences are anything to go by. I'm afraid of all the St Patrick's Day pricks that will be out too though.

Ugh, I can't! :( My best friend asked me to help her with her little sister's birthday party, so I probably won't get there until at least 8:00. But I'm definitely free after the show - do you want to get some drinks or something? I just turned 21 a week and a half ago so I'm really new to the bar scene and I think after the show would be a perfect opportunity!

Yeah, it sounds weird but the weirder the better! I'm pscyhed for it - I love them and they're really high energy so I'm down for it. What time are you planning on getting there? I probably won't get there till like 7:30-7:45 just because I don't see the point in going early. I really doubt there will be a line. Even Andrew Bird didn't have very much of a line, so this won't really be a hassle.

I know, the whole thing sounds sort of sketchy but I'm up for the task. If I'm one of like five people that shows up I'll probably get the meet the band! Haha. A dentist's office would be cool, though probably not that good acoustically. And I bought my AC tickets a couple of months ago, as soon as I heard they were playing. There was no way I was waiting and chancing a sold out show :)

Re: Pitchfork, I don't like it. The navigation succkkkss :\ And as far as the concert this Saturday - I got the following email from the people hosting it: "Hello, We are at 1016 coal ave. sw suite 3 show starts at 8 $5 suggested donation at the door. See you there!" So at the mystery is somewhat cleared up. Though I'm still questioning whether or not this is a legitimate concert.

OH MY GOD. Grizzly Bear is SO GOOD. I'm like, blown away. Within the first two songs I was at a loss for words. I would say, as far as an album, it's better than MPP. But cohesively, it's not as good as MPP (some of the songs get a little repetitive for me on the new GB album). So I guess it breaks even? I'm always horrible at comparing stuff like that. And yes, hopefully I'll see you at the show! I hope they're serving booze :)

Oh geez, that sucks. We got in line at 5 and were first for will-call (our tickets, that we ordered on the 18th of November, got pushed last minute to will-call, which sucked but whatever). Once we got our tickets we only had 2 people in front of us. We watched a few people get in who didn't have tickets... but it didn't seem as if they had many for sale at the door. It was so damn good, that man is a genius... totally worth a trip to Denver if you wanted to try to see him on the 26th of this month. We were right on the stage and everything was PERFECT.

We were at the wife's uncle's, trying to get his stubborn dog in, and within the span of 20 minutes someone shot out the window of her car. Probably with a BB gun, we couldn't find anything that could have done it. There was another car a few house down the road that had been done too. At Xmas 07, when we were house-sitting again, I went there one morning and their car's back window had been taken out. Along with about six other cars. And then this Halloween, someone threw a pumpkin through the back window of their other car...it impaled on the handbrake hahaha! It's really fucking annoying, they've been doing it for a year, and seemingly for 'fun'. Stuff like that was common in london but I really didn't expect it all the time here! My friend knows the manager or someone at El-Rey and said she is always deliberately doing shit to make it unpleasant there. So I imagine empty spaces are probably something to do with her!

Well we never made yesterday. The wife stood around for hours waitimng and then just gave up. So we went to her Uncle's where we are house-sitting for the weekend to get the dog in. And while we were doing this someone shot out one of the side windows on the car! Yay. Andrew Bird is ultimately responsible. She got a flyer while waiting though that listed M. Ward as coming here April 20. No venue confirmed though. I am excited for that and while buy tickets in advance!

I did! I actually ordered them online in November/December. But, it wasn't the greatest show ever because all the under 21 crowd had to hang out up on the balcony (and I'm only 2 and a half weeks from being 21!). He's a fantastic performer though, he was just flawless. Even when he screwed up he was flawless! I just wish I could have been down near the stage. That's weird it was sold out, though, because it didn't seem super packed.

pasamusica.blogspot.com has a whole bunch of stuff, not necessarily new, but i got a lot of stuff from the past two decades on there-everything is on mediafire too so it downloads easily and you can do a whole load at one time. Another one i found recently is www.astoundingsounds.wordpress.com-they have lots of new release on there and again, they're all on [spam] I got the links to these from a site called thefreewave.blogspot.com. It's just a list of loads of blogs under different genres. I kinda just go through the interesting ones' archives finding stuff back until the links are expired.

oh yeah, i downloaded it the other day. I really liked her first album. We just kinda bought that on a whim expecting it to be good. I download so much stuff these days from all these blogs that i never can catch up with anything. I should slow down and listen to what I have-there's stuff I downloaded months ago I still haven't heard yet! I really like her style though, it's kinda Bjork-ish but i much prefer it. One of those people i should have seen when i was in London because there's no fucking way she'll come within 500 miles of here!

Yeah we should say hi. The only time I've ever been in the El Rey they left the lights up the entire show. It gave it a little bit of a weird atmosphere. I hope that isn't a regular occurrence. I'll be with my wife. She has quite bright red (well I call it orange) hair. I'll keep an eye out for you too? Is the pic here up to date haha?

Well it's actually, well like someone's house, well warehouse sort of, that is???But by far one of the chillest shows ever, crowd of about 35 maybe even less. Beat up old 200watt speakers resting on a half way broken down table, with a mixing board from like the 80's. Haha but like I was chill, It was more like a bunch of hip-hop heads scratching around having a great time. Every artist was pretty tipsy the whole time and it lasted a little more than four hours..You missed a good one I must say...

Gosh I don't know what's wrong with me. First I replied to you on my profile, then I realised my mistake and copied the reply to paste here, only i hit copy and copied blankness haha. I'm really pissed off about something right now and my mind is elsewhere. Modest Mouse are coming to Kiva end of Feb. They announced on myspace today with tickets going on sale tomorrow. I'm gonna get mine early as it seems to not be very well publicised and i want to be near the front. Last time they played there we met Johnny Marr who, as well as being a legend, was an incredibly nice chap.
