John Powell kan ik eigenlijk alleen 1 aanbevelen, maar dat is How To Train Your Dragon, één van de beste (if not the best) soundtracks aller tijden. Lady in the Water en Avatar: The Last Airbender zijn daar voorbeelden van. Dan heb je nog Hunger Games, King Kong, Treasure Planet, Dinosaur en dus Atlantis :P Enjoy!

Laatste post, I promise (I'm so, so sorry you have to read all of this :P ) De enige soundtracks die ik je dan nog wil aanraden zijn Conan the Barbarian van Basil Poledouris (erg sterke fantasy soundtrack), de Battlestar Galactica tv-series van Bear McCreary, King Arthur, Last Samurai, Gladiator, Sherlock Holmes, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lone Ranger, The Prince of Egypt en Lion King van Hans Zimmer. We spreken ;)

Well, Elfman is a good in animation or fantasy scores. "Epic" is just a new example of his outstanding talent. I agreed in this with main part of critics. 4/5, but not more.

Epic is a good soundtrack, much better than "Oz". Elfman approached to some celtic-like style in this score, that makes it more interesting. Some tracks are really incredible.

(Ok sorry for my english heh) One could think the most played are the favorite ones but it isn't like that so often really hah. I really don't have just one favorite and since I've been listening to them so many years I've changed my current favorite over the years. And TBM are this sort of band were I love most of the songs and it's the combination of them, like listening to a few in a row that makes it extra awesome. But okay my favorites most of the time has been Pins and needles, red stars, blue, video kid. And I like Nowhere and Black too, so calming and you get that magic feeling. I was a bit dissapointed of Hide and Seek though because I think the sound has changed to much and since I've always fell in love with the other new albums at just the first time listening to them and I didn't get that feeling with h&s. And even now I don't like it like the others so I hope they go back to the old sound in next album. My favorite album is Violet. And you? =)

Haha, I always look for an edit button too, because I have a tendency to overuse emoticons :-) Perhaps I do that because of the lack of line breaks. I see you have a solution for that! | I'm not sure how interested you are in human psychology, but have you checked out The Enneagram Institute? They also have an interesting evaluation system. I'm a Type 4 with a strong influence from 5 (also called a "wing"). http://www.enneagraminstitute.com. It's true that while I am introverted, I hardly seem that way as I try to be as social as possible. Nobody would ever know it, but when I'm done with a party, I am so ready to be alone—I get wiped out. | Do you remember the first score that you fell in love with? It was Jurassic Park for me, when I was 12. We played the theme song in my 7th grade concert band and I was hooked. | I'll send a friend request! Prepare yourself for a deluge of recommendations :-)

Yes, a 4-year adventure in Sweden, it was :-) Coming home was one of the toughest choices I ever made. About Bastion, I left Zulf there, the poor lad. At least history was no longer resigned to repeating itself. When faced with choices like these, I almost always select the renegade option :-) Am I a horrible human being? I think you'll love Woodkid's entire debut album. It's full of amazing songs, especially "Run Boy Run" and "I Love You" -- also check out those videos, because they'll leave you either stunned or weeping helplessly. Fellow music score aficionados are easy to recommend music to--there is something there that we are all drawn to. An epic, powerful feeling, as if we are part of a story. If I were to extend a last.fm friendship invite, would you take it? I can't bear the thought of rejection :-) It makes sharing recommendations much easier for me. P.S. I am INFJ :-)

It was love at first play with Bastion, and Korb's soundtrack was certainly a factor. I used to live in Europe, and "Setting Sail, Coming Home" became something of a theme song at one point. It's such a beautiful and upsetting piece of music. As for a music recommendation, might I suggest Woodkid's Iron? I think you'll appreciate its cinematic and epic qualities, if you can get past the unique vocals. http://vimeo.com/21604065 Good luck with this one!

okay, i've got two fairly solid (i hope!) recommendations for you. number one: Lewis. reasons for recommending: British mystery series, witty and incredibly lovable leads, focus on intellectual aspects over any gore or grit, lots of great music and memorable episodes. it just finished its sixth and final season. warnings: sometimes very sad, occasional loose ends. number two: Quantum Leap. reason for recommending: sort of a 90s, American version of Doctor Who. the lead character is a regular human, but he travels through his own lifetime by leaping into other people's bodies. once he "rights what went wrong," the time machiney thing takes him out of one body and puts him in another. his best friend from the future/present is visible to him as a hologram and helps him figure out what he needs to do. i know it sounds bizarre, but at least watch the pilot. it's one of my very favorites. warnings: very episodic and often cheesily sentimental. also, it was canceled so there's no resolution.

as far as WHAT i write, i have written a lot of poetry, mostly about nature and relationships (i mean, what else is there to write poetry about? ha.) and have an embarrassing number of scarcely-begun stories. i LOVED fairy tales when i was a young teen, and i still have a preference for them, so the large majority of my stories are retellings. i also have one based on jane austen's persuasion which might be my favorite. // per our orginial discussion, i watch like a ton of mystery shows. what are your feelings on those?

wait -- is that sherlock from your avatar actually yours? i've been meaning to watch the rise of the guardians since it came out. maybe with your recommendation, i'll finally get around to it! i'd probably try to draw birds if i had any talent - you might have guessed i'm fond of them. i'm very attached to their symbolism. // i get what you mean about preferring the concrete version. i've been writing since i was very, very young and it was many years before i wrote on the computer. unfortunately, even though it feels more like i've done something when i write it by hand, it's much more difficult to edit. i'm the kind of writer who continues writing to see what's going to happen to the characters - not a lot of planning involved. so writing in word has a much cleaner and simpler feel; also, i have quite a number of stories and a fairly poor memory, so it's important for me to be able to scroll back and reread.

i can do groups sometimes, but i have to be SUPER comfortable. i love one-on-one and groups of eight or fewer -- i have a family of six, so i still feel at home, even in a kind of large group. what mediums do you use as an artist? (is that the right way to ask? i used to ask writers what they wrote before i realized that i, as a writer myself, had no good answer. otherwise, what subjects do you find yourself depicting the most often?)

how cool! another best friend of mine (yes, i'm the kind of person that has ten best friends) studied interior design. i'm always impressed by visual artists because i have basically no visual art ability at all. so you got to meet important people? does that mean you're good at small talk or talking with strangers? i have to admit to being a pretty poor mingler. glad to have introduced you to unchained melody! it's a classic over here.

yes, it was very very lovely. the bride walked in to a piano & sax version of unchained melody, i danced until i thought my feet were going to fall off, i got to hang out with my wonderful friends (well, the bride and groom to a lesser extent) and only knocked over one water glass - unfortunately not mine. ha! you get up to any adventures over the weekend?

i'm so glad about season three, oof. i didn't mind waiting too much though -- i think it's much worse when a show is so desperate to continue producing episodes that they lose the original spark. i'm not even a little worried about that happening with sherlock. i've never really thought of sherlock as horror, though i always give people the warning that it's a very intense show. maybe it's because the humor and drama seem to balance out the "scare" moments. i find thrillers (perhaps what you would term psychological horror) vastly preferable to a dim-witted gore fest. really, the only thing i can't really handle are shows that linger on serial killers. one of my few adult nightmares came after watching the movie se7en, so i've given dexter and hannibal a pretty wide berth.

I'm glad to hear the Alfred fandom is still going strong over there. It's celebrated as a cult classic over here. From what you described, Finns can also be quite straightforward in personality as we tend to speak our minds. As for Nightmare Before Christmas, I've listened to it (even if it doesn't show up that much in my list) and have seen the film, but neither really impressed me that much although the film was enjoyable enough. It was a nice move to have Elfman himself sing the tunes; he has such a quirky voice which fits Jack's character well in the songs. :)
