Haha yep i saw you and i wondered if it was you, lol. I was about 5 people along to your right. I dunno if you noticed a guy with a shaved head jumping up and down at random intervals, well i was next to him :P. True you'd think if they go to Japan then they could stop off here at least every couple of tours or something. Faster was great but a little ruined for me 'cos that bloody security guard kept on coming into my field of vision and flashing his light at people who were recording video of the band. He did that about 8 times during Faster. Bastard.

Hehe yeah i totally agree, it was truly amazing. It was great to share the same room with them, bit of a dream come true actually 'cos who would have thought they would even consider coming back to Australia again. The tour seemed to go surprisingly well which is great. James was so energetic i couldn't believe it. Y'know i was pretty much in the exact same spot you described; in front of Nicky, second row back haha. Good times. Hopefully they will come back in a couple of years like James said to a fan in Sydney. We'll see..

That's an interesting point about paying more 'cos bands have to travel further. Guess that makes sense actually. I would imagine a band like the Manics are much sooner going to make a loss than a gain financially by playing in this country. Still, they can afford it. I reckon seeing Aussie bands for the same prices is to be expected unfortunately.

Man, we get ripped off for gig tickets in this country. I went on the UK Ebay to look up Manics tickets ('cos i have nothing better to do obviously, lol). To see them play in London it will cost about $55 inc. booking fee and here it costs $71... Now, the Manics are a very big band over there, they can sell out arenas yet if you were going to see a band play at an arena here it would be well over $100. For instance to see Iron Maiden play here in Feb is about $145 which is close to 85pounds. Personally i was expecting Manics tickets here to be $50-75 so i wasn't that surprised to see the cost but to see that you can see them cheaper in 'London'. Pisses me off. It's criminal how much Australians are forced to fork out to see bands. I'd like to go see Iron Maiden or at least got to Soundwave but i can't afford it. Curses! Haha.

Hey. I noticed something today... the lyrics for All Is Vanity have been used by the Manics before.. in 2005 on Picturesque from the 'God Save The Manics' ep. Maybe i am missing something but i don't remember anything being said at the time about using Richey's lyrics for that ep.

I'm sure you'll like The Forum. Inside it's made to look like an outdoor amphitheatre with statues and classically decorative walls and such. It'll be a really nice setting to see the Manics. Not that either of us will be admiring the decor much what with being down the front going mental, lol.

I just checked out The Forum website for interest's sake, it has a standing/general admission capacity of 1500, so selling out won't be a problem. But i will only relax when i have the tickets in my hands! Have you been to The Forum before? It's a nice venue, i've seen Black Francis, Supergrass, Steve Coogan and Jarvis Cocker there :).

Nah i haven't got mine yet. I can't get mine until the general admission sale starts 9am Wednesday. I too feel paranoid that i'll be too late for a ticket.. even though i know i wont be, the Manics aren't going to sell out. But still.. i want mine now rather than 48 hours time, plus getting tickets for my brother & housemate too so that complicates thing! :/. I would have definitely got them by now but i don't have enough dosh on my debit account and there wouldn't have been enough time for funds to clear. Arrrg, please please please don't let me miss this gig! Lol! I won't though ..but still. Haha. As soon as i heard about the gig i thought 'i am so getting there early'. I think that in my 15 years or so of going to gigs there have only been 2 where i know i NEED to be at the front. This is one of them. So i too am getting there nice and early to secure my place. I have a plan: let's both get there and team up to fight our way to the front on the line. NOONE will get in our way haha

According to Ticketmaster, the new price of $71.30 is the $69.90 + credit card fee. There will probably be the 'booking fee' by paying via credit card as well, I'm guessing that will come to closer to $80. These ticket agencies love their booking fees.. If you buy direct from a ticket outlet the price is $69.90 (+ booking fee i guess). *scratches head in confusion*

haha, i am thinking the very same thing. Unfortunately i don't have enough on my debit card to get all the tickets so i am going to have to wait it out until the 18th. I am so paranoid about that too. Even though i am also 99.9% sure floor tickets will remain on sale.. but still....... haha

I'm not sure, i suppose you can join at any time. I shouldn't imagine there would be a time limit for the Manics. I'm not 100% sure though.

I've no idea. Either it is what you said about demand or they're expecting to sell 3 tickets and wanna get as much as they can. They've added pre-sale dates too, Mon 16-Tues 17th is Ticketmaster pre-sale the general public sale is the original date (18th Aug). By the way an 'event' page has been added for the gig, it's on my Last page, join up if you like, there's 5 people on there already :). And hells yeah, for the Manics it's alright to go into Ultra Black Belt Stalker Mode, lol.

Haha had a thought; i might go to the venue a few hours earlier on the day. I would love to meet them. A few years ago i met Oasis there when holidaying in Melbourne (before moving here of course). From what i remember it was early afternoon and they were playing there that night. There is this side entrance on the right of the venue by the road. I figure this will most likely be the Manics' first & last proper tour here and only chance to meet them. I know, rather fan-boyish of me but hey, it's the Manics :D

Also, i noticed that in Perth the Manics are playing Metropolis Fremantle (Fremantle is half an hour away from Perth, Perth has its own Metropolis venue). The Fremantle one is smaller than the Perth one and at least around half the size of The Forum here. I suppose when going to Perth it is better to play somewhere smaller on their level of popularity, must be expensive playing there 'cos Perth is so far away. I mean, even Supergrass who had a decent following there would play Metros Freo.

Y'know, i keep thinking on and off about how many people are going to be at the Manics gig. Like, i very highly doubt it will sell out but i would like the place to be at least half-full. It's really hard to gauge their level of popularity here. A few days ago i read the comments about the tour announcement on Faster Louder, and there was this Stereophonics vs Manics as far as concert draw goes. Someone reckoned that the Stereophonics attracted a decent crowd in Aus without a recent album whereas someone else pointed out the Manics have charted better overall in this country. On that basis you'd think there might be a decent crowd for the Manics, but i'm not convinced yet. Guess we'll see. All i know is i will be at the ticket outlet first thing a week today!

Jesus, $30 is so cheap! Although i remember that when i went to America years and years ago on a family holiday everything was surprisingly cheap. I bet it's not like that now though. That reminds of when i went to see the Foo Fighters in 1997 back in Perth the tickets were $30 and the 1999 Big Day Out was something like $70/75, i think, it was definitely under $100 that's for sure, i shit you not. It's amazing how much tickets have gotten as time has gone by. Having said that, i was surprised the Manics tickets are $70, i was honestly expecting to have to pay more. I would have paid it though. I still can't quite believe that we are going to be able to the goshdarn Manic Street Preachers. Highlight of the year. Easy.

I remember you saying ages ago that it would be great to sing 'oh mummy what's a Sex Pistol' or hear a crowd singing it. You should have your chance now (that's if they play it that is). I'd like to think we'd get a slightly different set seeing as there are plenty songs they've played here before, but i'd be more than happy with a regular set. I might keep an eye on set lists prior to the show.. well, maybe... wouldn't want to spoil th element of surprise. I'm just waiting on them to announce it officially on the site.

Haha right i see. Yeah i reckon between 50-70dollars for a ticket something like that. I'd imagine it'll be 18+, gigs by and large seem to be 18+ by default these days. Although i suppose from a ticket agencies stand point it would be better for them if it was all ages. Guess we'll see. If it is all ages we can always bully the under 18s out the way so we get the best spot in the house. I never am at the very front at gig and i definitely, definitely, definitely want to be at the front for this. I wonder if there many other Manics Maniacs who have the same idea. We might have to compete with them, lol.

Damn, what's this about $150 tickets? That's a good point about the fanbase being small and making the shows more intimate & better. Makes me think; The Forum is medium-ish sized venue which a lot of very popular bands have played in (Supergrass, Frank Black, Oasis. etc.), it's hard to judge but the Manics might have a little trouble getting a decent sized crowd in there. Hmm. I would have thought they might have picked a slightly smaller venue. Still, i'm certainly not complaining, it would be nice to see a large crowd there but doesn't make a difference to me whether there are 100 or 1000. The smaller the crowd the more chance we have at being right at the front!! Jesus Christ i'm getting all excited thinking about being in from row with James & Nicky at arms length, lol. Metallica are also in town that night, maybe we'll see a Bradfield/Hetfield Guitar Duel, i love both bands but i'll be in JDB's corner for sure, haha.

Not only will this before the first tour for 13 years but a proper tour at that. When they were here for the '99 Big Day Out they only played separate dates at Melbourne & Sydney. Whatever happens i. am. not. missing. the Melbourne show at the very least. Flights to Perth can range from $150 (Tiger) to up to and beyond $400 (Virgin, Qantas etc.). They seem roughly around the $300 mark though. I still can't believe we are going to THE MANICS in the flesh!

That's amazing news. Man how i wish more than ever i had money to burn. I would do what you want to do, travel the whole damned country to see them. I don't even have the money for the Melbourne show.. F***g sucks that this has to come along right when i haven't a poss to piss in!!! But by god i am not going to miss this. If i can get the money together i might go to the Perth show too, i have been wanting t get back to Perth for over a year and what a perfect excuse. Where did you find out tis info, i checked on the Forever Delayed site, they have the tour dates but says there is more info on the Manics site and i can't find this info anywhere. Weird.
