I see that you are listening to Beherit. Back in my teens, I produced some fanzines. I remember when Wild Rags records sent me _The Oath of Black Blood_ it blew my fucking mind. I had no frame of reference for it. What do you think of the new Sturgill Simpson album? Did you get it on vinyl?

Sturgill’s brother-in-law told me he has been working on a more rocking album. What do you think of “Sing Along”? By the way, it is great to see “Dealing with It!” In your albums of the week. I listened to them a ton in my adolescence - although I only had “Four of a Kind” and “Thrash Zone.”

Cheers from the land of Panopticon, Russell’s Reserve, and My Morning Jacket! Your compatibility with R136a1 is Super. You both listen to Bathory, Slayer and Sturgill Simpson. What a trio that we share in common.

Camel are one of my favorites, too. Wish I had more of their music, hopefully with time...

Meant to ask you what your top 5-10 of the year is looking like at this point. Still a few records I'm anticipating pretty heavily that are yet to come, but I've got a pretty long list of ones that have grabbed my attention thus far. I have heard good things about the upcoming Terrorizer album, too.

To be honest with you, I've mainly focused on country releases this year. There are a lot of great musicians gaining recognition, and that has been exciting enough for me. Unless you want country recommendations, I don't have many from other genres as I've just been somewhat ignorant towards them. Dead Can Dance has a new album out soon and have released 1 single that I know of that I enjoyed. Metal has slowly died the past couple of decades and I'm noticing it is increasingly difficult for me to keep up with new releases.

I'd love some Country recommendations! Most of the Country I listen to is either old or from artists who are old, so having some new artists to listen to would be a welcome change. There's a great album I heard this year that I discovered basically by accident called Becomes Awake by The Dark Red Seed (a project with some connection to King Dude, who also had a good "Dark Folk" type album this year) that I've been recommending to people... I don't know how to describe it exactly. It's sort of a "Dark Folk"/"Neo Psychedelia" type thing but it has a bit of a Country influence and some hints of Ambient as well -- really good stuff. I'll be on the lookout for that new DCD-- the last one they did really grew on me. Bummer about your feelings re: Metal. Since I've cleaned up my act I've been able to make a much more concerted effort of keeping up with new releases this year (still catching up with the last few) and I've been blown away by several so let me know if you do want any 2018 recs.

I fully recommend Tyler Childers. It's honky tonk revival. Reckless, but genuinely sincere to a time and place. The dude can write songs with the best of current country artists: Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, and Ryan Bingham. If you enjoy anything from those artists, I can suggest even more; I've become somewhat consumed by it. I absolutely want some 2018 metal recommendations! My ignorance towards it this year doesn't diminish my love for it! Maybe your picks will spark my interest again. Back to the artists I recommended, if you want more of a write-up, I can find some time, but anything from Childers, Colter, and Sturgill, and "Mescalito" is my favorite Bingham album. Been playing that pretty much all day today actually. Anyway, hope you find something in there you enjoy!

Haha, I have found a few parts of Reddit that are interesting at times but overall that website is fucking stupid. I tried to post on the metal section for a bit and then realized it was full of Opeth and Between the Buried and Me fanboys..

Your charts are fucking weird dude, I'm too close minded I guess. But it's hard to teach new tricks to an old horse, I just celebrated my 30th year of being into metal...old Slayer and Bathory on top with Repulsion, you know your shit...
