YES! I just saw this — it’s maybe my very favorite song because of how it connects with my existential worldview. Especially in my early 20s (I’m 28 now and was 22 when I saw her and heard this song live) there was something about the articulation of living in a materialistic-deterministic universe while trying to create a sense of identity/individualism and control (“muscles connect to the bone and bone to the ire and the marrow; so I pretend there aren’t ten strings tied to all ten of my fingers”) that just hit me on a gut level. It’s not a cry for help song exactly, but it is a nod towards the somewhat absurd phenomenon of existence and to me shows how her creativity bursts through the chaos. I hope this makes sense? Hahaha. Also as someone with lots of anxiety the dueling guitars before the final chorus are dissonant in a way that makes me feel seen lol. The music video is also excellent and you might appreciate it!

Well, funny story. Technically, I went to see them, but I had to leave before I even got to see them play :/ But it's okay, because I'm seeing them again haha. Oh and of course! Wincing the Night Away is my favorite album from them. I'm not like an audiophile or anything, but I actually have that album on vinyl!
