I've banished the Shitlams, Cullum etc to the reset plays of history...of history...of history (echo repeat to infinity.............)

Cool :) It's bound to be an interesting gig! :) I'm assuming it'll be based around his latest solo offering, 'Of Fungi And Foe' which I haven't heard myself, but if you're on emusic, they have some of his other solo stuff....I'd recommend the two 'Live Frogs' releases by Les Claypool's Frog Brigade, there's a cover of the whole of the Pink Floyd Animal's album :) For Primus, my two favourite albums are 'Sailing the Seas Of Cheese' and 'Pork Soda'....

Ohhhhhhh man...the boris album Flood? I demand that you get it now! Don't be put off by the beginning, the album as a whole is FUCKING INCREDIBLE

Ooooh is that the one where I time stretch it to 30 seconds? when I'm in a hurry? You know I think I still have that. I could never do that to Flood though, ohh no.

My fave Warlocks tracks are So Paranoid, Moving Mountains and Jam of the Witches (the latter from "Rise and Fall" album)

I thoroughly enjoy listening to "Sunburst on the Cayman Trench" which has a great progression from soft to very loud. I remember when Formula Orange came out there were all sorts of critical praise from space rock / prog rock websites around the world but that obviously didn't translate into CD sales or touring opportunities. FO is a bit of an indulgent record but I really enjoy listening to it. Unfortunately I don't have any other music by Sh'mantra to compare it to. Personally I would rank FO higher than Kid A or Amnesiac by Radiohead which came out around the same time. I actually purchased my copy directly from Alex after knocking on his door in Dundas.

I visited you a few times because I saw you were a Sh'Mantra listener. A friend of mine - Greg Dixon - was the guy who owned the recording studio where Formula Orange was recorded.

Yup! And that's what I love about this last.fm thing...an hour ago I hadn't even heard of Indian Jewelry, now I'm hanging out for my next lot of emusic downloads to get their stuff :)

Listening to Lesser Snake, excellent stuff, reminds me a bit of The Black Angels....who are worth a listen if you haven't already...

Heh, I suppose I'm hell of a Last.fm addict :) You probably visit too many same band pages that I do :D And yea, Pavement is simply great (Sonic Youth is also one of my favourites now). I'm still looking for Slanted and Enchanted Luxe & Deluxe edition. But I'm really happy with the two special editions of Pavement cds that I already have. CRCR is pretty addicting - while I was having my entrance exams I listened to the album all of the time ( except while doing the actual exams :D ) Thanks to you I suppose.

Hey, I finally managed to order another of your recommendations. I went with Pavement. I ordered Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain 2CD edition even though it was pretty damn expensive :D I really hope it's good, but I've heard a few tracks by them and I think I'm going to like it. I'll be back once I actually get the record.

here's some recommended composers you might want to search out: Bartok, Gorecki, Xenakis, Berg, Shostakovich, Reich, Debussy, Satie, Poulenc, Janacek, Part, Holst, Vaughan Williams, Copland... there's lots more. Particularly recommend you maybe start with Gorecki's Symphony no. 3

Sorry that I didn't say anything about the recommendations earlier. Anyways, I ordered some Sonic Youth albums from an online store, since they don't have any in where I live. Rather Ripped sounds like a good choice but it was too expensive :D. So I went with Daydream Nation, Dirty and Sister. Besides those I borrowed Jetset and A Thousand Leaves from my local library. Sounds interesting :)

Thanks for the recommendation! They don't seem to be my cup of tea, but they do make some interesting music. It seems like music that needs a long time to truly sit in. How do you like Lovage?

Yea, I know what you mean by the limited taste/artists. No worries, I just discovered Sonic Youth. Oh, and I am about to check out Pavement... wait a sec. It's your number 1 artist :O. Could you suggest an album by them? Accordint to your text it would be Slanted and Enchanted, am I wrong? Anyways it's odd that the bands I thought I'd look into are your no 1 and 2. Feel free to suggest something.

Hey, I saw your post in the Mike Patton shoutbox from a while back. If you want mellow Patton, your best bet is the Lovage album. It's very good and chill.

:) I reckon you'll like them....they're easily one of the best bands out there. Not too many gigs in Adelaide, which is pain...if bands like PT came here they would sell well...

You're going to Porcupine Tree? Oooh, I'm still pi$%ed that they're skipping Adelaide!

Hey Barcs. Sorry for the late reply. I haven't listened to any music for ages. I checked out Sweat Of The Sun, Tears Of The Moon, I really liked it. Thanks for the recommendation.
