what happens here for ppl who don't have health insurance is that when they do need major surgery they end up with bills that they'll never EVER be able to pay (could be hundreds of thousands of dollars). or ppl can't get medications they need cause the prices are so insane that no one could afford them. so certainly things need to change. it must be something like a human universal that ppl everywhere are likely to be ignorant, can't see beyond their own personal experiences, etc. idk it just sucks. if ppl were willing to work together then life could be much better for everyone. that's right, universities in america are not free, in fact they can be very expensive. and getting more expensive all the time. there are sources of funding like scholarships, grants, and loans (private and public) but of course when the economy is bad, there is less money available for that too. and now more and more jobs require a bachelor's degree since there are more ppl with degrees who are unemployed.

your mother is a nurse and you can't convince her to eat healthier foods?? hmm. lol that must be annoying too! well of course, like we discussed before, i'm not religious at all, so to me a secular society is the best way. and i can understand being concerned if it seems like the values in your society are threatened. (i mean, that's how america was founded, by europeans who came and did everything they could to take it over from the ppl who were already here, and impose their values on everyone.) but at the same time i'm really uncomfortable with blaming a particular group of ppl and making generalizations about them, you know? it's easy for other ppl to make muslims (for example) a scapegoat for everything that seems to be wrong. especially when most individuals probably just want to live their lives and mind their own business. idk. yeah, the health care system here is really fucked, but of course like you said it's not that it's perfect in european countries either.

it's hard to make generalizations about whether it's a good place to live. another issue that we have which is different from europe is the health care system, we don't have any universal health care, that is a major problem for many ppl. and the reason why americans don't want to learn spanish or other languages is basically arrogance, ppl are used to everyone else just learning english. and that's something i don't like about america. haha, oh d**a, didn't she also say something about religion that she got sued for? or something like that. lol i was gonna argue with you and say nooo maja is sweet, but then i realized she like never smiles in pictures or anything so yeah, i got nothing to say about that c: even in her photoshoot for viva she looks super pissed in all the pics lmao. ugh i was referring to zelmerlöw and diamond haha i hate them both :| omg i was watching some performance on youtube where edyta and justyna sung dziewczyna szamana and jestem kobietą, that was cool c:

oh, no problem! lol yeah i always have to cook for just myself and so i end up eating the same thing for like days at a time cause i have to use up the ingredients. annoying! well idk, with illegal immigrants in america, many of them do not even want to live in america, they just want to work (sometimes seasonal work) so they can send money back home. and since they are actually benefiting the american economy, it would be okay i think. but of course the situation in europe is different, i am not as informed about that. what is wrong with having muslims in europe? aren't they citizens like anyone else? about america, one major issue we are facing is that the gap between the rich and poor is increasing, so a few ppl are very rich, more are poor, and the middle class is shrinking. so for most ppl, it is no paradise, that's for sure. but america is so huge, there are so many different experiences within one country, you know?

yes, there is a barrier (sections of fences and walls) along parts of the border. many people die trying to cross the border in the desert where there isn't any barrier, it is really horrible. the more barriers there are, the worse it will get. because people are so desperate that they will try to cross anyway, even knowing that they could die. regarding the arizona law, yes, what you said is exactly the problem with it. it requires police officers to use racial profiling, and it ignores the presumption of innocence that is supposed to exist in american law. and there is no clear definition given of what exactly presents "reasonable suspicion" that a person is in the country unlawfully, it is up to the discretion of individual officers, who are not trained in immigration matters even. it has already happened that citizens have been stopped and then detained because they couldn't immediately provide proof of it.

lol smart thinking! i mean, not that i want to spend hours cooking every night or anything, but it's just better not to have to rely on packaged/prepared food all the time. well, i guess immigration in america is a complex issue, there's more to it than just "illegal immigration is wrong." many studies have shown that even illegal immigrants actually benefit the u.s. economy, through their work they contribute more than they collect from the govt. they are often doing jobs (unskilled, low-wage) that would not exist if they weren't there, so they are not necessarily taking employment away from citizens. and because of their immigration status they are especially vulnerable to exploitation by employers. therefore a "guest worker" program to allow such people to work in the country legally may be the best solution since it would allow the govt to tax their earnings and all that, plus provide more legal protections for the workers.

oh good, i just wondered cause i know sooo many ppl who can't/don't cook at all! i'm glad you're not helpless like that ;o hmm yeah there are many americans who are very hateful about immigrants (as well as racist in general), like recently immigration from mexico is a controversial issue. for example, the state of arizona tried to enact legislature that required police to arrest any "suspicious individuals" and check their immigration status. like, police state much? and there are always ppl trying to make english the ~official language~ and complaining about hearing spanish and so on. anyway. lol i love when pudelek shows a really terrible photo, then like zooms in on the worst part so it looks even worse than you originally thought! of course some of what they write is true. in the swedish tabloids i usually only read about melodifestivalen, so i'm not too up on who they'd write about other than those.

the tablet basically does what the mouse or touchpad would do, so you can use it to control your computer all the time if you want. but mainly it's for drawing, photo editing, and that kind of stuff where it's easier (and more natural) to use the pen than to try to control it with a mouse. or it's even more difficult with a touchpad like on my laptop! that's mainly why i got a tablet. for example, if i used my tablet to write something in photoshop, my handwriting would look just like it actually does, but if i tried to do that with a mouse/touchpad, it would look like a 2-year-old wrote it c: omg yes i've noticed ppl making hateful comments about edyta being a "stupid gypsy" or some shit, that always shocks me kinda, because it isn't really something you hear very much in america. it's awful. anyway, i think justyna's nose is amazing! she would look much more boring if she had it worked on.

in that case, just start eating more fish and seafood lol. oh, i like all kinds of fake-meat products, whether made of soy, wheat gluten, or anything! well, in addition to those, you can eat beans, lentils, whole grains, nuts, dairy, tofu...so many things! there are some grains, like quinoa, that can be prepared similar to rice but have much more protein. lol, poles taking over iceland, that's fabulous c: yeah, i liked the polish food i had! especially the cabbage was really good, i don't know how it was prepared exactly, but it was red cabbage with like vinegar i guess? but then my clothes smelled like cabbage for the rest of the day ;c so does the entire country smell like cabbage all the time??? lol. and the pierogi fillings i had were potato, sauerkraut, and some cheese that was sweet? oh, i guess the babka i had was the jewish kind, not the easter kind. but it was amazing. it was chocolate.

but there are some organizations that have like language classes and such, like http://www.pacim.org/ and recently i ate at a polish restaurant actually, i had pierogi, cabbage, some kind of pickled salad, and rye bread. also babka! the tablet i have is this one http://www.wacom.com/bamboo/bamboo_pen.php it is one of the least expensive ones. i like it but i haven't really used any others so i don't know how it compares. oh edyta is so pretty, i swear in the to nie tak jak myślisz video she must be the most beautiful woman in the world *-* and well, i like when ppl are crazy, it's more interesting. but it's sad to think that she must be unhappy. of course i wouldn't wish for that. justyna is also beautiful, and very distinctive looking. now d**a on the other hand...lol! speaking of cheap polish girls! c;

well i've been veg for 10+ years so i'd say it's a good idea ;o and i mean, if you don't want to stop eating seafood, you could still cut out other meats! that's also a positive change. and it's not like there are any rules about it :D however, i guess you may find it difficult where you live, maybe there are not as many meatless options available. it's not always the easiest here either, but the situation is improving all the time. lol, i can handle the cold, but that doesn't mean i LIKE it :| i refuse to wear a coat unless it's below zero, and i wear skirts all year long. denial! the worst we had this year was like -35F, but it can get as bad as say -50F. but! now it is getting to be like 40F and the snow is even melting! finally. i'd say most polish-americans don't speak polish (or as much as i speak finnish, i.e., 100 words maybe) because they aren't recent immigrants and it is not encouraged to continue speaking your language once you get here :c

oh yeah, i'm sure regular drawing will be very important in your studies. it seems to work out really well when you can do your drawing on paper, then scan it and do more photoshop ~magic on it lol. a tablet is also nice to have, i've got an inexpensive wacom bamboo one. hmm, i see you have lots of sayings! cute :3 omg i think edyta is more interested in acting like a diva than working on her career, you know? she certainly is no madonna when it comes to work ethic. that's how she ended up where she is today *~* i've downloaded that album of justyna's and i will check it out! god that image of d**a is just so funny to me, can't even think of it without laughing, it's too ridiculous. plus thinking of her awful face at the same time O_O i really like "glam pop" (aka one of marina's two songs lol) but it's not because of HER actually, i don't see that she has anything distinctive about her. and even she's fired maja, lol oh dear...

yeah, i don't have anything against hunting/fishing, i think it's generally more moral than like factory farming, but i'm a vegetarian anyway so i'm not interested c: and i hate the winters here :| so i'll move as soon as possible. i also prefer bigger cities where you feel that there are more different possibilities for what you can do. and i guess what you said about ppl being prejudiced/closed-minded describes many smaller towns, of course that's another thing that bothers me here. it's just so unpleasant to have to listen to ppl's hateful opinions all the time. biggest metro area in my state is minneapolis/st.paul, i've lived there before, and i liked it better. coincidentally, that's where most of the poles in the state are located :3 there are polish-american groups, shops, and of course bars lol. http://www.nyespolonaise.com but it's nothing compared to chicago of course! chicago's not terribly far from me, i'd like to check out the polish stuff there sometime c:
