Looks great but alas the silly season requires me to attend various family and friends' traditional gatherings so I am out on that one. There is a cool gig happening in Brussels in January with Primordial, Dodsengel and more that I have my eye on but I will be lucky to get to that as well. We shall see...

Sortilegia!! Deadly! I was fairly impressed at PDM with them. If I am not mistaken their drummer also plays with Vemod whose two main members are of course in OTOH and Mare so perhaps we could see them added too? DHG I found sloppy(in a bad way)and totally uninspiring and yeah the singer was brutal and was fannying around like a tit. The beer was being well tanned by that stage though so I was probably quite happy to sneer from the side of the bar, you know the way....

Unreal announcement! Aurora Infernalis was great craic. Mgla and Vemod stellar. Ruins of Beverast quite good. Hetroertzen decent. Dodheimsgard an embarrassment. Lugubrum a great surprise. Will have to investigate more. Odd band.

I have a friend who lives there so no accommodation costs, cheap flights from the airport down the road, there are awesome bands playing, and I have three-day weekends, so no excuse not to go really. OK, well, I'll be handsome bespectacled redhead there, pretty easy to identify I would think.

Monday was not fun. East coast trains got cancelled short notice so had to divert to sheffield and connect to darlo from there. Train was crammed like a tube, standing room only beside the bogs for 2+ hours. Hell. I just stared at the wall for most of it not being able to bear the presence of those around me! Went to a pub in sheffield for an hour just to sit down! Eventually got home hours later than intended exhausted. Sure what can you do shit happens. Holland should be good, got Hetroertzen 'Exaltation of Wisdom' on just now. A pretty nice album I must say!

Norway was cool Zedulous. I embraced every cliched opportunity that came my way - listening to Hvis Lyset Tar Oss in Fantoft, Immortal while travelling the fjords, Emperor at Greighallen etc etc. It was sunny 2 days, the rest was rather more 'northern'. Good country, surprisingly excellent beer. I will be down at Live Evil on Saturday, cannot trust myself to manage 3 days on the rip in London so cancelled the friday! See you some time Saturday afternoon!

Yes I've been for 3 or 4 days a few years ago that were spent either drinking in the main square or plastic Irish pub during the day and drinking in titty bars at night. I was at a football game. You sound like you've seen more of it than me! I love the last song on the Vemod album. The ambient stuff comes into its own when out walking alone in the country.

Well. Into Prague Thurs evening, flying back Mon eve. Yeah, should be about with a couple of the Scotch crowd so will surely meet up with you for a beer Thurs night or Friday before the gig! I have your number and think you have mine so drop a text when we get there. Looking forward to it - whole line up is great, especially anticipating VEMOD, the debut album is my favourite thing in ages.

Just dropping by to let you know I'm finally falling under the spell of Belkètre, especially The Dark Promise right now - the drumming style is so... out of place... with the rest of the music that it's an incredibly compelling listen. I need to give their last demo a bit more time and concentration, but it's got me partially already. Thanks for reminding me about them!

YES, someone else who uses that greeting XD Holocaust were actually better than I expected, and I was expecting a lot! I can't wait for them to play their mid-period (completely unique) stuff live, though, as was hinted. They invited me to the band afterparty too, but I got food/found friends and then got completely lost on the way there and only found the pub as it was closing, heh. Seems like you had a good night too though, did you go to the 'official' afterparty? (Nice to see Moonblood in your charts, 'Blut und Krieg' is one of my absolute favourite songs.)

Don't worry about it :) Yea, train prices in England make me sad.. Flights tend to work out cheaper! Umm I suppose i do end up memorising a lot of facts about different things but i do it through reading different journal articles and assessing opposing arguments. So it's not just straight up fact learning. My degree is really research focused so it's about figuring out the best course of action and applying it to real life. I love it :)

Working til late friday Zed so won't make the Darlo gig. Will be home about 11.30pm. If people are still out for pints at that stage drop me a text and I might head out. See you in Dublin if not....

well the ipod I have doesn't scrobble either. I don't really use it anyway as I can't figure out how to add and remove albums. My charts on this are just a random taste of what i'm listening to, but yes its a useful site for info and recomendations. I bought tickets and flights to dublin but the tickets haven't arrived yet, hopefully will come soon. Gonna be a deadly weekend!

Wow, sounds fantastic! Which festivals? It is indeed, as long as my dissertation progress allows for it. If any gigs crop up in Belfast in the days before/after it, you should come up :)
