Timber Timbre Trinity St Paul's. Got my ticket last night.

I was tempted to go to that show for Vetiver.... I had it as a maybe! Hmmm. What do you think of Dawes?

I saw Sharon Van Etten open for Junip this week. Her new stuff has a drummer and bassist. Don't like it as much as her solo stuff all stripped down... she played two songs at the end of her set solo. Much stronger!

I only knew of a BSS in store at Soundscapes and you needed to buy the album to get in. And I already dropped 60 to see the Island show. Actually 120, as I have 2 tickets and no one to claim the second yet. I gotta get on that. So I decided against that... haha

So I saw Midlake in Detroit on the weekend. Really small audience! Those Detroitians needs to learn to go out and support the acts that actually stop there. :) They were pretty good. Though Roscoe wasn't as tight as the other songs... I think they've played it too much. We were talking to them afterwards and they say they make no money touring the US. And I could see it... 7 members. Plus some roadies... a lot of mouths to feed.

Sure! I don't live far from the El Mocambo... I live on McCaul, right across from OCAD/AGO... we can meet here. Or we can meet outside the venue. I definitely do not want to miss Nurses though. ;)

Well I only like his song Overnite Religion so far through my listening. But it was free and I work at King and Spadina (near Criminal Records) so of course I'd go. I was pretty pissed with his sound checking when he should have been starting, and I couldn't see anything because I decided to be at the back. So I left! Tallest Man show should be amazing... I'm really getting into the opener Nurses!

I only stayed for one song. I was there early but didnt care about a good spot... the dude didnt do any kind of sound checking til the time he was supposed to start... and he cranked the reverb WAYYYYY too high on his vocals for my liking... and I was standing at the back. And Im like... ya this isn't good... I could stand here and pretend I like it or I can leave and go eat dinner, which I decided to do. And yeah Timber Timbre during the day isn't gonna be great but I'll take it... better than hearing shit music... he should be good at the great hall. I checked out pics of that venue and it is pretty classy.

To be honest - I have only really heard the tune "Sold" which i really love. But I listened to a live set of his through CBC and i thought it was great. i'm all about BEACH HOUSE. it's sold out and i'm working on finding a ticket. This year's shaping up pretty good for gigs.

Ya, I think I might do that. Just looked at the schedule again and there really is not much other than Timber Timbre on the 1tth. Definitely the only thing I would pay to see. I also checked out some pics for the Great Hall and it looks pretty nice...

They have Timber TImbre tickets on sale now... 21 bucks. Yikes! I wonder if it would be easy to get in with a wristband.

I can't justify paying $50 to go to those shows. But i want to see Collett, Zeus and Bahamas. I wouldn't mind seeing the Constantines, Rural Alberta Advantage, Plants and Animals and RJD2. I'd probably buy tickets for rjd2. and timber timbre of course, which i just noticed on your pal's post. I had a great time last year though at the Six Shooter showcase at the Reverb.

You should definitely give away a pass to me. I live for free stuff. I pay for stuff way too often. haha Btw, Forest City Lovers said their new album is coming out sometime this year.

Ya, if you can get wristbands from work and need the company I would totally come! Great Lake Swimmers, Rural Alberta Advantage, Plants and Animals, Woodhands looked good to see... I am sure there is some hidden gems in there though. I saw a guy before Basia Bulat from Newfoundland who I thought was pretty good but I didnt know his name. And I also thought Elliot Brood was GREAT! And then I stayed for two songs of Cuff the Duke... and my friend and I were like... ya, let's just go.

Yup. For sure. Ive got nothing going on that night... and I love free stuff. Especially free shows. I've also only seen her live once before. At Lee's last year during Canadian Music Week. (really disappointed in their lineup this year). Also the wristband is 60 bucks. Pretty sure it was 45 last year... Garbage. The Wavelength 500 series is great though. But I'm only doing two of the nights.

Thanks for checking it out. I sometimes feel like absolutely no one visits it, so it's nice to be surprised every once and a while. As for Harbourfront - the only gig I missed that I can think of off the top of my head is Broken Social Scene. I really wish I could've been there. Also - the Island gig this summer is going to be terrific. AND Spoon and Deerhunter! which I chose over Nada Surf at Lee's. Tough - but Deerhunter sealed the deal I think.
